WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Jaylen Waddle | Dolphins WR

Jaylen Waddle is being activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Miami was fortunately able to takedown the Jets to improve to 7-7 without Waddle yesterday, and now they'll have him back for Week 16. The speedy first-round rookie should be back on the WR2 map against New Orleans next Monday night.

Jaylen Waddle | Dolphins WR

Jaylen Waddle has been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Waddle joins the entire backfield of Miami with issues continuing to hit the team/league, and unless it turns out to be some sort of false positive, he won't be able to play on Sunday. It's obviously unfortunate with fantasy playoffs beginning, but DeVante Parker should already be rostered and gets elevated to WR2 status for Week 15 (with Mike Gesicki also getting a boost as a borderline top-five option at tight end). Hopefully Waddle is feeling OK and can return in Week 16.

Jaylen Waddle | Dolphins WR

The Dolphins have selected Alabama wide receiver Jaylen Waddle with the No. overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Waddle is a game-breaker with top-tier speed, explosiveness, and agility, which will make the Miami offense difficult to defend with how much pressure he can put on opposing defenses. While he wasn’t a featured receiver to start his career on an Alabama offense with DeVonta Smith, Jerry Jeudy, and Henry Ruggs III, the numbers were spectacular in 2020—lines of 8/134/2, 5/142/1, 6/120, and 6/161/1—before an ankle injury knocked him out last October (until he admirably returned for the national championship at less than 100%). And he lands in a good spot with DeVante Parker, Will Fuller, and Mike Gesicki taking attention away from defenses with the Dolphins while reuniting with his former college quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Fantasy owners might be a bit hesitant after Ruggs III struggled to put up numbers as a rookie, but if Waddle stays healthy, he can be a high-upside, big-play FLEX catching passes from QB.
