WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse suffered a broken leg and associated ankle injuries, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

This unfortunately sounds like a very serious injury, which isn't surprising after Kearse was carted off the field earlier tonight. Kearse's season is probably over before it gets started, and he'll likely be placed on injured reserve soon.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse suffers apparent leg injury in preseason game.

An air cast is coming out for Kearse, so this obviously doesn't look good. We just have to hope for the best at this point, and more information should become available in the next 24-48 hours. Kearse was looking to be the No. 4 receiver for the Lions.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

The Lions are signing Jermaine Kearse, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Kearse started nine games for the Jets in his age-28 campaign, catching 37 passes for 371 yards and one touchdown as he saw his role decreased from 2017. He'll join new Lions offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell again, as the two spent five years together in Seattle. In Detroit, the veteran won't be anything more than the No. 4 receiver if he makes the team, but his size makes him an ideal insurance policy for both Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones. Redraft leagues can probably ignore Kearse for now.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse (Achilles) has officially been ruled out for Week 17.

Kearse's season ends with 37 receptions for 371 yards and one touchdown in 14 games. The veteran receiver is set to become a free agent this offseason, and it'll be interesting to see if the Jets bring him back for a role in an offense led by young quarterback Sam Darnold.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse catches four passes in Week 16.

Kearse gained 55 yards on his four receptions versus Green Bay. The veteran receiver left the game with an Achilles injury, so hopefully it's not a serious ailment that will keep him out into next season. He's unlikely to play in Week 17, though.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse catches two passes in Jets' loss.

Kearse gained nine yards on his two receptions versus the Texans. The veteran receiver is difficult to trust in fantasy lineups right now.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse catches one pass in Week 14.

Kearse gained ten yards on his lone reception against the Bills. The veteran receiver is not a recommended fantasy option for the second week of the fantasy playoffs.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse not targeted in loss to the Titans.

Kearse just posted a 6/66/1 line against New England, but he was held out of the box score for Week 13. The 28-year-old should stay out of fantasy lineups as the Jets head to Buffalo next Sunday.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse scores against the Patriots.

Kearse received a team-high 12 targets in the Jets' Week 12 loss, catching six passes for 66 yards and a touchdown. The score was a 16-yarder in the first quarter for New York's lone touchdown of the day. This was Kearse's first touchdown of the season, so he's not a highly-recommended fantasy option right now, though the 12 targets are a positive sign.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse catches two passes in Jets' loss.

Kearse gained 16 yards on his two reception against the Bills. The veteran receiver offers a low floor in fantasy lineups at the moment, so he doesn't need to be owned in standard-sized leagues.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse catches three passes in Week 9.

Kearse drew a team-high nine targets against the Dolphins, but he and Sam Darnold couldn't connect much. The veteran receiver gained 20 yards on his three receptions. Kearse is difficult to trust in fantasy lineups right now.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse gets ten targets in Week 8.

Kearse's ten targets were a team-high for the Jets in their loss to Chicago, but the veteran receiver couldn't get much going. He caught three passes for 30 yards. Kearse will look to bounce back with a bigger game next week against the Dolphins, but he could see a lot of shutdown cornerback Xavien Howard in the game.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse leads the Jets in Week 6 receiving.

Kearse was targeted a team-high ten times against the Colts, catching nine passes for 94 yards in the Week 6 win. This more than doubled the veteran receiver's season total coming into the game, and he could be getting more into the swing of things after missing the start of the season with a core muscle injury. Kearse faces the Vikings next week.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse catches one pass in Jets' win.

Kearse gained 14 yards on his lone reception against the Broncos. The veteran receiver is not a recommended fantasy option right now.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse catches two passes against the Jaguars.

Kearse had gains of 12 yards and 11 yards, putting his total at two receptions for 23 yards in the Week 4 loss. Kearse is not a highly-recommended fantasy option at the moment.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse catches three passes against the Browns.

Kearse was targeted six times in the Week 4 loss, gaining 35 yards on his three receptions. The veteran receiver also did a good job of springing Quincy Enunwa in the screen game. Kearse has a steady role in the Jets offense, but he's not a highly-recommended fantasy option at the moment.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse catches one pass in Week 2.

Kearse had -1 yard on his lone reception in his first game of 2018. The veteran receiver is probably being eased back after recent abdominal surgery, as he was the clear No. 4 receiver for the Jets. He can't be trusted in fantasy lineups right now.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse (abdomen) was a full participant in practice.

After missing Week 1, the veteran receiver is ready to go for this Sunday against the Dolphins. Kearse will join the rotation with Robby Anderson, Quincy Enunwa, and Terrelle Pryor.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse (abdomen) is inactive for the season opener.

New York will go with the trio of Robby Anderson, Quincy Enunwa, and Terrelle Pryor in Sam Darnold’s first career start. Anderson could see a lot of Darius Slay, so Enunwa and Pryor are interesting last-minute desperation options. Hopefully Kearse can heal up and perhaps get back into the starting lineup.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse (abdomen) is listed as doubtful for Week 1.

Kearse is reportedly expected to miss the opener against Detroit, and this doubtful designation indicates he'll likely be out. Kearse should not be in fantasy lineups for Week 1, especially with him playing on Monday night.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

The Jets fear Jermaine Kearse will miss the season opener, according to Manish Mehta of the Daily News.

Mehta says Kearse recently underwent a procedure on his injured abdomen that will likely cause him to miss the opener on Monday, September 10 against the Lions. If Kearse is out, the top-three receivers for the Jets would be more clear with Robby Anderson, Quincy Enunwa, and Terrelle Pryor likely to be the starting trio. Perhaps Kearse will surprise and be ready to go for Week 1, but expect him to miss at least one game—and potentially more—for now.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse catches five passes in Week 17.

Kearse gained 59 yards on his five receptions, and his season ends with 65 receptions for 810 yards and five touchdowns. He was a solid acquisition before the season for the Jets, and they'd probably like to bring him back in 2018.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse catches five passes in Jets' loss.

Kearse gained 42 yards on his five receptions (eight targets). He carries too much risk to trust in Week 17 fantasy lineups.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse held in check as Jets fall to Saints.

Kearse caught three passes for 28 yards in the 31-19 loss. New York's offense is clearly limited with Josh McCown done for the season, so Kearse can be dropped in all leagues. He faces the Chargers in Week 16.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse held to one reception in shutout loss.

The reception went for four yards. Kearse can be dropped in all leagues after Josh McCown broke his hand, as Bryce Petty could be at quarterback for the rest of the season.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse goes over 150 yards in Week 13.

Kearse had an outstanding afternoon for the Jets, catching nine of ten targets for 157 yards, including a long of 51 yards and a spectacular one-handed catch in the game. This makes two weeks in a row with over 100 yards for Kearse, and he'll look to keep it going against a struggling Broncos team in Week 14. He'll be in the FLEX conversation for that matchup.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse scores, goes over 100 yards in loss to Carolina.

Kearse caught seven passes for 105 yards, including a three-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to bring the Jets within five in an eventual 35-27 loss. The former Seahawk had taken a backseat to white-hot Robby Anderson over the past few weeks, but both were able to have a big day in Week 12. They'll contend with Marcus Peters and newly-signed Darrelle Revis against Kansas City next Sunday.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse caught four passes for 35 yards in Sunday's loss to the Buccaneers.

Kearse has taken a backseat to Robby Anderson—who has scored in four-straight games—and he can safely be dropped as New York heads into the bye week. They face the Panthers in Week 12.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse gets six targets in Week 9.

Kearse's six targets were a team-high, and he caught two passes for 28 yards in a win over the Bills. After catching at least three passes in each of the first six games, Kearse only has five combined in the last three games. He doesn't need to be on fantasy rosters at the moment.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse held in check in Week 8 loss.

Kearse caught two passes for 14 yards against the Falcons. The former Seahawk is on pace for a 58/684/8 line at the season's midway point, which would be a career-high in catches and yards, but one yard short of his 685 yards in 2015. So far, we'd say he's exceeding expectations with New York, but he's still just a weak FLEX option in most fantasy leagues. The Jets host the Bills on Thursday night.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse scores in Week 7 loss.

It was a 29-yard touchdown, and his only catch of the game. Kearse now has four touchdowns through seven games heading into next week's matchup with the Falcons. We would consider him the preferred fantasy play over Robby Anderson, but he's just a decent FLEX option.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse leads team in receiving on Sunday.

Kearse caught four passes for 79 yards in a 24-17 loss to the Patriots. He'll face the Dolphins in Week 7 after catching three passes for 42 yards against them in their first meeting this season. Kearse is a solid FLEX option in PPR leagues.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse catches third touchdown of the season in win over Cleveland.

Kearse caught four passes for 38 yards, including a 24-yard score in the fourth quarter to extend the lead to 17-7. The 27-year-old is having a solid season through five games as the top receiver for Josh McCown. He has a good matchup in Week 6 against the Patriots.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse has quiet Week 4 as Jets defeat Jags.

Kearse did catch four passes, but they went for just 17 yards, as he had to deal with A.J. Bouye and Jalen Ramsey all day. The former Seahawk is on pace for 728 yards and eight touchdowns. He's worth owning in standard leagues, and gets a matchup with Cleveland in Week 5.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse catches three passes in Week 3.

Kearse had only three targets in the win, gaining 42 yards against the Dolphins. He'll likely usually be a high floor option, but next week is not the week to put him in your lineup, as the Jaguars present a very difficult matchup with their great cornerbacks.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse scores twice in Week 2.

Kearse notched his first two touchdowns with the Jets, as he had four receptions for 64 yards and the two scores against Oakland. The first touchdown was on a 34-yard deep ball that he high-pointed near the end zone, and the second was on a skinny post from the slot to the end zone for 11 yards. As a number one receiver on a team that might be behind and throwing a lot this season, Kearse needs to be added in all standard leagues.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse leads Jets in receiving in his first game with the team.

Kearse was targeted a team-high nine times and caught seven of them for 59 yards versus the Bills. The former Seahawk should remain a high floor option this season, especially in PPR leagues.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse has reportedly been traded to the Jets.

According to Gee Scott of 710ESPN, Kearse has been traded, but there are reports out there that the Seahawks are getting Sheldon Richardson as a part of the deal. It'd be quite the get for Seattle from a talent perspective, as Richardson is a 2013 first-round pick with 18 sacks through four seasons. As for Kearse, he might step right in as the Jets' number one receiver over Robby Anderson, so the move from Seattle helps his fantasy value. Kearse went to the University of Washington, so this is going to hurt some Seahawks fans; but Kearse has a Super Bowl ring to show for his five seasons with Seattle.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

The Seahawks are trying to trade Jermaine Kearse, according to ESPN's Dianna Russini.

This shouldn't come as a surprise in a loaded wide receivers group. Kearse is a decent role player, but he probably won't be a fantasy contributor if he ends up with another team. His 49 catches in 2015 was a career high, and it's hard to see him doing better without Russell Wilson in a different city.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse leads team in receiving on Friday night.

Kearse had three catches for 59 yards, with a long of 39 yards. The 27-year-old will make some plays, but he won't be a consistent fantasy option behind Doug Baldwin, Paul Richardson, and Tyler Lockett in the regular season.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse catches one pass in Week 2 of the preseason.

The catch was a nice one he snatched over the middle for 20 yards. Kearse could be falling behind in the Seahawks receiving group. It's unlikely he delivers any consistent fantasy value in 2017.

Jermaine Kearse had one reception for eight yards in Seattle's season-ending playoff loss.

With Paul Richardson stepping up late in the season, it's fair to wonder if Kearse won't be one of Seattle's three main wide receivers next season. Seattle also has Doug Baldwin and Tyler Lockett. Kearse should not be drafted in 2017 fantasy drafts.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse catches two passes for 14 yards versus the Lions.

He would have had a touchdown, but Doug Baldwin curiously ran a very similar route towards the endzone and cut in front of Kearse to score himself. Kearse will be one of the Seahawks' three main wide receivers in the Divisional Round.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse grabs two passes for 45 yards against San Fran.

Kearse finishes the regular season with 41 receptions for 511 yards and one touchdown and will be one of Russell Wilsons main targets in the playoffs.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse catches touchdown in Week 16.

He had four catches for 37 yards and a touchdown, and was second on the team with nine targets. With Tyler Lockett likely out for the year, Kearse will have to step up for Seattle. He isn't a terrible FLEX option against the Niners next week.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse leads Seahawks in Week 13 receiving.

He had five catches for 68 yards, but is not a fantasy option.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse caught one of five targets for 18 yards in Week 12 against Tampa Bay.

Kearse isn't a fantasy option and should not be owned.

Jermaine Kearse | Lions WR

Jermaine Kearse catches two passes for 26 yards.

Keep him on the waiver wire.
