WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

J.K. Dobbins | Ravens RB

J.K. Dobbins (knee) is out for the season with a torn ACL, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

This was the fear when Dobbins badly hyperextended his knee while taking a hit to the leg last night. The second-year running back appeared prime for a big season in a run-heavy Ravens attack, but he'll now undergo surgery and will rehab to work his way back to full strength for the start of the 2022 season. Gus Edwards is set to lead the Baltimore backfield, but the team is almost certain to add a veteran option to the position—free-agent Todd Gurley, Melvin Gordon or Latavius Murray via a trade, stand out as potential options for the Ravens.

J.K. Dobbins suffers apparent knee injury in preseason game against Washington.

Dobbins was tackled on a screen pass and then held his knee before being helped off the field without putting any pressure on his leg. This doesn't look good right now, but we just have to hope for good news on the second-year running back. The Ravens had expressed interest in adding to the running back room earlier this year, so we'll see if there's any action there. For now, Gus Edwards profiles as a potential workhorse runner in 2021.

J.K. Dobbins (chest) is questionable to return for the Ravens.

The Ravens are up by 21 points in the fourth quarter, so Baltimore might ultimately play things safe and leave Dobbins out for the rest of today's game. Before leaving, the rookie running back had 11 carries for 77 yards and one touchdown.

J.K. Dobbins has been activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list.

This was fully expected, and Dobbins will be back on Tuesday for a great matchup against Dallas. The rookie started to be featured a couple of weeks ago, so we are optimistic about him as a top-15 option in 0.5 PPR leagues for Week 13.

J.K. Dobbins and Mark Ingram will not play against the Steelers.

NBC's Michele Tafoya said on the Dan Patrick Show that neither will play, which—from a fantasy perspective—is the fairest outcome we could have hoped for with many relying on Gus Edwards this week. Consider the big runner a volume-based RB2 this evening, it would be interesting to see what a big game might do to the pecking order when Dobbins and Ingram return next Tuesday in Dallas.

J.K. Dobbins will be eligible to play on Wednesday.

The Ravens continued to push the game against the Steelers to get pushed further back, and the move to Wednesday will allow Dobbins and Mark Ingram to play after getting enough time for clearance from positive COVID-19 tests. Baltimore has lucked out recently with the league catering to them, and this is another boost.

J.K. Dobbins has tested positive for COVID-19.

Mark Ingram has also tested positive, so this obviously is not good with a Thanksgiving Night matchup with the Steelers looming. Gus Edwards is set to lead the Baltimore backfield and could get a heavy workload on Thursday evening. Dobbins now must get cleared before he can return for the Ravens, and getting back by Week 13 would probably be the best case scenario.

J.K. Dobbins | Ravens RB

J.K. Dobbins scores twice in NFL debut.

Dobbins had seven carries for 22 yards and two touchdowns against the Browns. Both scores came at the goal line, and it looks like the Ravens could be poised to use the second-round rookie as a hammer deep into scoring territory. The upside is huge for Dobbins both this season and beyond, but Baltimore is currently employing a four-man committee backfield (when Justice Hill gets healthy and back on the field).

J.K. Dobbins | Ravens RB

The Ravens have selected Ohio State running back J.K. Dobbins with the No. 55 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

The consensus top trio of Clyde Edwards-Helaire, D’Andre Swift, and Jonathan Taylor, along with Cam Akers going to the Rams, pushed Dobbins down to the Ravens as the fifth running back drafted, but he was an ultra-productive runner at Ohio State and has very few weaknesses to speak of as a prospect. Dobbins compares favorably to former Ravens standout Ray Rice, and he happens to land with the same franchise as a second-round pick like Rice. The former Buckeye has strong long-term upside in an explosive offense led by Lamar Jackson, but he'll almost certainly be a complementary member of a committee as a rookie.
