WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Joe Callahan | Free Agent QB

The Ravens released Joe Callahan.

With Lamar Jackson, Robert Griffin III, and Trace McSorley all on the roster at quarterback for the Ravens, this was expected. Callahan seems to be a player coaches like, so he shouldn't take too long to find a new team.

Joe Callahan | Free Agent QB

The Ravens are signing Joe Callahan, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

Garafolo says the signing is pending a physical, but it shouldn't be an issue that holds up the signing. Callahan spent time with a few teams including most notably the Packers, and now he joins Baltimore, where Ravens offensive coordinator Greg Roman coaches Callahan at Holy Spirit High School in New Jersey, which is a pretty cool story. Making the 53-man roster will obviously be incredibly tough with Lamar Jackson, Robert Griffin III, and Trace McSorley all on the team, but Callahan should get an opportunity to play and put more on film this preseason.

Joe Callahan | Free Agent QB

The Buccaneers signed quarterback Joe Callahan to a future/reserve contract.

Callahan is an interesting quarterback that can certainly sling the football around, and he'll now have an opportunity to potentially prove himself to a new coaching staff while on an even playing field with the other quarterback looking to compete for the backup job behind Jameis Winston, who apparently is locked in as the team's starter in 2019.

Joe Callahan | Free Agent QB

The Eagles waived quarterback Joe Callahan.

It was a cool opportunity for the New Jersey native Callahan to get to play for his local professional football team this season, but he had an uphill battle to make the final roster with Carson Wentz, Nick Foles, and Nate Sudfeld all in Philadelphia. Callahan threw a game-winning touchdown last night, so at least he went out on a great note. The former Packer and Saint will draw interest elsewhere.

Joe Callahan | Free Agent QB

The Eagles are expected to sign quarterback Joe Callahan, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

Callahan has spent the last two seasons in Green Bay, but he was waived on Monday. This is pretty cool, as the former Division III star is from Absecon, New Jersey, so he probably grew up rooting for the Eagles. With Carson Wentz's status uncertain as he recovers from his knee injury, Callahan could get a nice opportunity to show what he can do this preseason.

Joe Callahan | Free Agent QB

The Packers have released quarterback Joe Callahan.

The 2016 undrafted quarterback is someone Green Bay clearly likes, but he fell victim to a numbers game after the team traded for former Browns quarterback DeShone Kizer earlier this offseason. Callahan was with the Packers the last two seasons, but he also previously spent time with the Saints and Browns in 2016. He'll get interest from other teams.

Joe Callahan | Free Agent QB

Joe Callahan gets time in Week 17.

Callahan entered the game late for Brett Hundley, going 5/7 for 11 yards. Callahan is someone the Packers like, and they'll probably try to keep him on the roster as the third quarterback leading up to next season.

Joe Callahan | Free Agent QB

The Packers waived quarterback Joe Callahan.

Callahan had been backing up Brett Hundley while Aaron Rodgers was out, but the Packers are opting to go with two quarterbacks now that Rodgers is officially back on the active roster. Green Bay would almost certainly add Callahan, who they really like, to the practice squad if he clears waivers. Other teams might be interested in claiming Callahan, though.

Joe Callahan | Free Agent QB

Joe Callahan was 10/16 for 103 yards in Week 1 of the preseason for Green Bay.

He also added an 11-yard carry. Callahan showed off his great arm talent in the game and avoided mistakes. He probably should have had a deep touchdown pass, but there what certainly looked like pass interference but wasn't called. Look for Callahan to remain on Green Bay's roster to start the season, as Mike McCarthy and the team like him.
