WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Joshua Kelley | Chargers RB

Joshua Kelley excels in NFL debut.

Kelley carries 12 times for 60 yards and one touchdown in the Chargers' close Week 1 victory against the Bengals. The rookie runner from UCLA showed impressive vision, patience, burst, and power throughout the game against the Bengals, and it appears that he's already won a large role in the Chargers offense. Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn said after the game that he doesn't think they would have won that game without Kelley, which speaks to how highly the former NFL running back thinks of the rookie. You don't want to overreact too much to one game, but a strong FLEX option could be the floor for Kelley this season—and the upside could be in the RB1/RB2 mix if he eventually takes the full role left by Melvin Gordon.

Joshua Kelley | Chargers RB

The Chargers have selected UCLA running back Joshua Kelley with the No. 112 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Kelley is a smooth, all-around runner with great feel for the position, and this looks like an excellent value for Los Angeles. Austin Ekeler will of course be the lead back, but Kelley has a legitimate shot to basically take a chunk of the work left behind from Melvin Gordon, so he's immediately on the redraft radar and a potential bargain in dynasty leagues compared to some of the runners drafted on Day 2.
