J.T. Barrett | Free Agent QB

The Steelers waived J.T. Barrett.

The former Ohio State star quarterback was probably hurt by COVID-19 causing most teams to want to trim their rosters early in training camp. Barrett might have to settle for a practice squad spot someplace this year.

The Saints are signing J.T. Barrett to the practice squad.

Barrett was previously with New Orleans, and now he's back in the building after Drew Brees' thumb injury that will sideline him for several weeks. The former Ohio State star does not need to be owned in dynasty leagues at the moment.

The Seahawks signed J.T. Barrett.

The former prolific Ohio State quarterback lands in a great spot with the Seahawks, and he should at least get a chance to play and put some play on film in the team's second preseason game while Geno Smith is out with a knee issue. Barrett is at a disadvantage joining Seattle in middle of the preseason, but he'll look to win a roster spot this summer.

J.T. Barrett has been waived by the Saints.

The undrafted Ohio State great was a major long shot to make the 53-man roster after the team acquired Teddy Bridgewater from the Jets. New Orleans would probably love to get Barrett on the practice squad, but he'll go through waivers first.

J.T. Barrett's deal with the Saints is for three years, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

It's been known since yesterday that the Ohio State great would be signing with New Orleans, but the fact that it's a three-year deal is very good for Barrett. The deal does not mean Barrett will stick around with the Saints even into this season, but it shows the Saints think highly of his potential. The Saints really like quarterback Taysom Hill, and FOX broadcasters Troy Aikman and Joe Buck talked during the 2017 season about how Saints head coach Sean Payton thinks he can be their quarterback of the future, but perhaps Barrett will get a shot down the line. In very deep dynasty leagues, Barrett might be worth a pick up.

J.T. Barrett is signing with the Saints as an undrafted free agent.

Albert Breer reported over the weekend that the former Ohio State star would be signing with the Colts, but that was apparently false. Instead, one of the most successful quarterbacks in Big Ten history will be joining another legendary Big Ten quarterback, Drew Brees, in New Orleans. Barrett will participate in rookie minicamp with the hopes of sticking around with the Saints and getting a shot in training camp.

J.T. Barrett is signing with the Colts as an undrafted free agent, according to Albert Breer.

Most college football fans and football fans in general certainly know J.T. Barrett, as he was one of the best college football players in the nation over the last few years. Barrett set a numbers of records with the Buckeyes, as he is the Big Ten's all-time leader in passing touchdowns, passing yardage, and total touchdowns responsible for. He was also First Team All-Big Ten three times (2014, 2016, and 2017) and was an integral member of the 2014 national championship team (the inaugural College Football Playoff), despite not being on the field for the postseason after suffering a season-ending leg injury in the Michigan game that year. Also, Barrett is the only three-time captain in Ohio State history, so he's obviously a great leader and will bring a good leadership presence to a locker room. To start his NFL career, Barrett will look to carve out a role as the third quarterback behind Andrew Luck and Jacoby Brissett in Indianapolis.
