WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Keith Kirkwood | Panthers WR

Keith Kirkwood was carted out of practice after taking a hit to the head.

Teammate JT Ibe delivered the hit and was kicked out, so it was likely a dirty and/or unnecessary play, and we can only hope that Kirkwood ends up being OK. The 27-year-old caught one passes last season with the Panthers and is again hoping to crack the roster as depth behind D.J. Moore, Robby Anderson, David Moore, and rookie Terrace Marshall Jr.

Keith Kirkwood | Panthers WR

Keith Kirkwood suffered a broken clavicle, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Kirkwood is out several weeks, and this probably helps explain the Panthers signing receivers Tommylee Lewis and Marken Michel this morning. This injury puts Kirkwood off the redraft radar even in the deepest of leagues.

Keith Kirkwood | Panthers WR

Keith Kirkwood is signing with the Panthers.

Kirkwood is familiar with new Panthers head coach Matt Rhule from his time at Temple, so this is a good fit. There's a chance the former Saints receiver carves out a role as a starter along with D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel in Joe Brady's offense this season.

Keith Kirkwood | Panthers WR

Keith Kirkwood has been placed on injured reserve.

Kirkwood was inactive for Week 2 because of a hamstring injury, and now he's being placed on IR. Perhaps Kirkwood will be brought back after eight weeks, but he can be safely dropped in any fantasy leagues he was owned in.

Keith Kirkwood | Panthers WR

Keith Kirkwood (calf) has officially been ruled out for the NFC Championship Game.

Kirkwood didn't practice all week, so New Orleans has ruled him out ahead of the weekend. With Kirkwood out, rookie Tre'Quan Smith must step up in a potential shootout against the Rams. Hopefully Kirkwood will be ready to go if the Saints advance to the Super Bowl.

Keith Kirkwood | Panthers WR

Keith Kirkwood scores in playoff win versus the Eagles.

Kirkwood caught two passes for eight yards and a touchdown in the Saints' Divisional Round victory. The score was on an out-breaking route for New Orleans' first touchdown of their win. Kirkwood will continue mixing in as one of the Saints' four top receivers in the NFC title game next weekend against the Rams.

Keith Kirkwood | Panthers WR

Keith Kirkwood catches two passes in Week 16.

Kirkwood cringed 35 yards on his two Week 16 receptions against the Steelers. Kirkwood is a solid contributor to the Saints, but he's difficult to trust in fantasy lineups with titles on the line.

Keith Kirkwood | Panthers WR

Keith Kirkwood catches two passes in Week 15.

Kirkwood's receptions went for 21 and 19 yards, as he made a catch early in the game then made a key clutch catch late for a first down. Overall, he had two receptions for 40 yards in the Saints' Monday night win. Kirkwood is not a highly-recommended fantasy option heading into championship matchups.

Keith Kirkwood | Panthers WR

Keith Kirkwood catches two passes against the Bucs.

Kirkwood gained 21 yards on his two receptions (two targets) in the Saints' Week 14 win. Kirkwood has weekly upside playing in a Drew Brees-led offense, but he's difficult to trust in fantasy lineups.

Keith Kirkwood | Panthers WR

Keith Kirkwood scores in Saints' loss.

Kirkwood caught a 30-yard touchdown on a deep ball from Drew Brees in the third quarter against the Cowboys. It looked like he might have gotten away with a push-off, but it was not called. This makes it two straight weeks with a touchdown for Kirkwood, and he'll likely need another score to deliver fantasy value in Week 14 against the Bucs.

Keith Kirkwood | Panthers WR

Keith Kirkwood scores first career touchdown in win over the Falcons.

The score came from five yards away on a nice diving grab in the fourth quarter, and it was his only catch of the game. Kirkwood won't be a recommended fantasy option in Week 13 against the Cowboys on Thursday Night Football.

Keith Kirkwood | Panthers WR

Keith Kirkwood catches three passes in Week 11.

Kirkwood gained 33 yards on his three receptions, doing his damage early in the game before other members of New Orleans' offense had huge games. Kirkwood is playing well and appears to have the trust of Drew Brees, so he's not a bad FLEX option in deep leagues.

Keith Kirkwood | Panthers WR

Keith Kirkwood catches two passes in NFL debut.

Kirkwood gained 45 yards on his two receptions against the Bengals, including a 42-yard reception on a deep ball that might have been a touchdown if not for a slight underthrow from Drew Brees. It was a very good first NFL game for the undrafted receiver from Temple, and hopefully it's the first of many big plays in his career. He's someone to keep an eye on in dynasty leagues.
