WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

La’Mical Perine | Jets RB

La'Mical Perine has been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Perine tested positive, becoming the first player for the Jets—who have done an outstanding job with the virus—to test positive for COVID this season. This ends the rookie running back's first NFL season after ten games. Perine dealt with injuries and didn't put up eye-popping stats, but the third-round pick showed promise. His year ends with 64 carries for 232 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns along with 11 receptions for 63 yards.

The Jets activated La'Mical Perine (ankle) off injured reserve.

Perine has been out for just over a month, but it's good to see him back for the final two games of the season. The rookie runner will look to build some momentum heading into the offseason after showing flashes throughout his first NFL season.

La’Mical Perine | Jets RB

La'Mical Perine (ankle) has been designated to return from injured reserve.

Because of the 21-day practice window before Perine must be taken off injured reserve, he's fully expected back in the final three weeks. The rookie runner can be activated at any time, so he may get back in the swing of things during practice this week before playing this Sunday against the Rams.

La’Mical Perine | Jets RB

The Jets have placed La’Mical Perine (ankle) on injured reserve.

This was thought to be a possibility, and the rookie will now miss at least the next three games. Look for Frank Gore to lead the backfield as he looks to do all he can to avoid an 0-16 season for New York.

La'Mical Perine (ankle) will miss a few weeks.

Perine is dealing with a high-ankle sprain, so he's going to miss some time with the issue and is a candidate for injured reserve. It's a tough break for the rookie runner, but hopefully he's able to get back on the field soon as he looks to build some momentum heading into 2021.

La’Mical Perine | Jets RB

La'Mical Perine (ankle) is doubtful to return for the Jets.

Before leaving, Perine had eight carries for 33 yards and a touchdown. Hopefully this isn't something that will keep the rookie back out for much longer than the rest of today. Frank Gore will handle most of the backfield work for the Jets over the final quarter-plus.

La'Mical Perine (ankle) is officially active for Week 2.

Perine will make his NFL debut and could immediately have a nice role with Le'Veon Bell on injured reserve. The Florida product is someone to keep an eye on in deeper leagues in particular.

La'Mical Perine is dealing with a low-ankle sprain, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Perine was injured over the weekend, but this is great news, as the rookie shouldn't be facing a long-term absence. Right now, there is tough to see a path for value in redraft leagues behind Le'Veon Bell and Frank Gore; consider Perine a dynasty prospect with a three-down skillset.

La’Mical Perine injured his ankle at today’s scrimmage.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport says that early indications are it’s a sprain, but any missed time will hurt the rookie’s chances of a role in Week 1. Either way, Le’Veon Bell and Frank Gore will handle the bulk of the touches, leaving Perine as more of a stash in redraft leagues.

La’Mical Perine | Jets RB

The Jets have selected Florida running back Lamical Perine with the No. 120 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Perine had steady production over four years for the Gators, and he is simply a reliable runner that can also impact the passing game. Just last season, Perine caught 40 passes to add value as a prospect, and he could immediately slide in as the No. 2 runner for New York. Fantasy owners should keep him in mind as a handcuff behind Le'Veon Bell, and a strong summer could realistically put him in position to take over as the lead back as soon as 2021.
