Logan Thomas did suffer a torn ACL, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The belief was that Logan did not suffer a torn ACL after his MRI, but unfortunately after further testing the initial fears were confirmed and it is a torn ACL. Thomas was already out for the season after being placed on injured reserve for a second time, but he'll now have surgery and a lengthy rehab process. This is a shame after Thomas was taken out on an arguably dirty hit against the Raiders a couple of Sundays ago. Thomas is an emerging tight end, and he's expected to be back for the start of the 2022 season.
Washington is placing Logan Thomas (knee) on injured reserve.
Thomas is fortunately not dealing with a torn ACL, but the injury is significant enough to end his season (this is the veteran's second placement on IR). Washington will now rely on Ricky Seals-Jones and rookie John Bates at tight end the rest of the way, and RSJ—currently dealing with a hip injury—in particular can be back on the TE1 map if he can get healthy. For Thomas, his season ends with 18 receptions, 196 yards, and three touchdowns in not even five full games played, so he will have a definite case for top-12 value in 2022.
Logan Thomas not expected to have a torn ACL.
Washington head coach Ron Rivera said the team received good news on Thomas after the MRI, but more tests are coming. This is great to hear after Thomas was taken out with what was arguably a dirty hit by Raiders defensive end Yannick Ngakoue in yesterday's Week 13 win. Thomas has a shot to return this season, but a more definite timeline should become available in the next few days.
Logan Thomas "likely" suffered torn ACL and MCL, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Thomas is headed for an MRI to confirm the extent of the injury. Hopefully there's somehow good and unexpected news on this, but it's looking like Thomas' season is likely over.
Washington is officially activating Logan Thomas (hamstring) from injured reserve.
Thomas missed six games with his hamstring injury, but he'll officially be back tonight against the Seahawks for the Week 12 Monday night matchup. Thomas is expected to be limited in his return, but he should be a strong fantasy asset down the stretch at tight end.
Washington officially activated Logan Thomas' practice window.
The hope was that Thomas might have been ready to practice after the bye a couple of weeks ago, but the big tight end is now officially practicing and can return for Week 12 if he's activated by Monday night. If practice goes well over the next few days, there appears to be a pretty good shot for Thomas to play against the Seahawks to conclude the week.
Logan Thomas (hamstring) is being placed on injured reserve, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Thomas is dealing with a fairly significant hamstring injury, so he will be out for at least three games. The big tight end should continue to be rostered (ideally placed on IR) in all leagues, and this news will open the door for Curtis Samuel to have a bigger role as he works his way back into the swing of things.
Logan Thomas (hamstring) is questionable to return.
[UPDATE: Thomas has quickly been ruled out for the game.] Hopefully Thomas is able to return soon, but we’ll update you on his status.
Washington and Logan Thomas have agreed to a contract extension.
It's a three-year contract extension, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. Thomas is coming off a breakout 72/670/6 campaign in 2020, and you could see his comfort level increase while becoming a weapon at tight end for Washington. This is a cool story for the former Virginia Tech quarterback, making a successful transition to a new position and being rewarded for it with a very nice contract at age 30. Washington added Curtis Samuel and Dyami Brown this offseason and has a lot of mouths to feed on offense, but Thomas can certainly be back on the TE1 map this season.
Washington placed Logan Thomas on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
Thomas will start a big training camp for him off to the site, and hopefully he can get cleared soon. The team has an open depth chart at tight end.
The Lions re-signed Logan Thomas.
Thomas was released by the Lions yesterday, but the move was made to create a roster space. He's not back in the mix at tight end for Detroit, but he's off the fantasy radar for now.
The Lions released Logan Thomas.
Thomas was released to make room for J.D. McKissic. The former quarterback turned tight end should find a new team soon.
The Lions signed Logan Thomas.
The former Virginia Tech quarterback spent the last two seasons in Buffalo, catching 19 passes for 144 yards and one touchdown, and he's still just 27 years old as he looks to develop into a difference-maker at tight end. Fellow free-agent acquisition Jesse James is clearly Detroit's starter at the position, though, so Thomas isn't really on the fantasy radar right now.
Logan Thomas held without a catch in win over the Jags.
Thomas was targeted once in the game. The former quarterback can be ignored for fantasy purposes.
Logan Thomas throws a pass in Week 10.
Thomas went 1/1 for 15 yards along with one reception for one yard against the Jets. The former Virginia Tech quarterback hadn't thrown a pass since 2014 with the Cardinals, so it probably felt good for him to do it and get a completion. Thomas isn't a fantasy option in redraft leagues at the moment.
Logan Thomas catches seven passes against the Bears.
Thomas gained 40 yards on his seven receptions, setting career-highs in both categories. Charles Clay (hamstring) went down in the game, and Thomas did a good job of stepping up. The former Virginia Tech quarterback remains just an intriguing dynasty-league option for now.
Logan Thomas catches one pass in Week 2 loss.
It went for seven yards. Thomas is off the fantasy radar heading into a matchup with the Vikings.
Logan Thomas catches one pass against the Ravens.
Thomas gained 24 yards on the longest play of the day for the Bills. He's not a fantasy option at the moment.
Logan Thomas is having a knee procedure and will miss the rest of this spring.
It sounds like it's a minor surgery for Thomas, who should be ready to go for training camp. The former Virginia Tech quarterback is trying to again make the Bills roster as one of their tight ends, so hopefully this won't affect his chances too much. Thomas is only a fantasy option in dynasty leagues at the moment.
Logan Thomas catches one pass in Bills' playoff loss.
Thomas gained five yards on his lone reception, and he did have a first-half pass intended for him that was tipped up and intercepted by Jacksonville. The former Virginia Tech quarterback has upside at the position, but he's not a recommended 2018 fantasy option quite yet.
Logan Thomas catches two passes against the Jets.
Thomas gained 25 yards on his two receptions, with his long reception going for 20 yards. The former quarterback continues to show flashes as a tight end, and he's someone to watch if you're in a dynasty league.
Logan Thomas catches one pass in Week 8 win.
It went for seven yards. The converted quarterback was grieving the loss of his baby daughter earlier in the week, but he was out there on Sunday for his teammates, which seems to be a close-knit group of guys. Thomas received a game ball after the victory for the 5-2 Bills. They will face they Jets on Thursday night.
Logan Thomas scores first career touchdown in win over the Bucs.
The former college quarterback earned his first career catch a couple weeks ago, and he was able to find the end zone for the first time on a 22-yard reception against Tampa Bay. Thomas has the physical tools to make plays as a tight end, but he's not a reliable fantasy option.
Logan Thomas catches one pass in Week 5.
Thomas gained three yards on his one reception. The former Virginia Tech quarterback could have a bigger role with Charles Clay suffering a potentially serious leg injury, but he's not a standard league fantasy option.
Logan Thomas catches a couple passes in preseason game.
The former Virginia Tech quarterback continues his transition to tight end and is looking like a good bet to make the Bills' final roster. The 6'6" tight end had two receptions for 22 yards in the game. He faces Philadelphia next week.
Bills sign Logan Thomas from the Lions' practice squad; intend to use him as tight end.
The former VT quarterback recently made the switch to tight end, and the Lions signed him to their practice squad. The Bills saw an opportunity and signed Thomas to their roster. Apparently, Thomas is partly inspired by what former quarterback Terrelle Pryor is doing at wide receiver for the Browns. Thomas was actually one of the best tight end prospects in the country coming out of high school, before switching to quarterback. This is a signing with extremely high upside for the Bills. Thomas is someone to keep an eye on, particularly this offseason.
