WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Niles Paul | Retired TE

Niles Paul has announced his retirement.

After being drafted in the fifth round of the 2011 draft by the Redskins, Paul played seven season in Washington before playing his final season in Jacksonville last year. Paul's career ends with 78 receptions for 954 yards and two touchdowns, but he was a strong contributor as a run blocker and did well to play eight NFL seasons after transitioning from wide receiver to a tight end/fullback type of role. The University of Nebraska product also selected as the 2016 Ed Block Courage Award winner on the Redskins. We wish Paul the best of luck in his post-playing life.

Niles Paul | Retired TE

The Niners cut Niles Paul.

Paul was recently signed to provide depth behind George Kittle, but we’ll see if he can get another chance elsewhere this month. The veteran will turn 30 in a week.

Niles Paul | Retired TE

Niles Paul is signing with the 49ers, according to Mike Garafolo.

Paul had been on the market after spending one season in Jacksonville, and San Francisco is giving him his next shot with Garrett Celek on the PUP list. Turning 30 next month, Paul is unlikely to have fantasy value even if he makes the team.

Niles Paul | Retired TE

The Jaguars waived Niles Paul.

Paul was on the NFI list, so him being waived gives him an opportunity to potentially join another team and play this season, assuming his knee injury is healed. His former team, the Redskins, who are down Jordan Reed, could be a team to keep an eye on.

Niles Paul | Retired TE

Niles Paul (knee) is out for the rest of today's game.

Paul did not have any receptions before leaving against the Cowboys. Hopefully the injury doesn't force Paul to miss much more time than the rest of today's game. Jacksonville is thin at tight end with Paul now out.

Niles Paul | Retired TE

Niles Paul (hamstring) is questionable to return against the Cowboys.

Paul was on the ground for a bit before walking over to the sideline. We'll update you on Paul's status if he returns to the game or is ruled out.

Niles Paul | Retired TE

Niles Paul gets nine targets in Jaguars' loss.

Paul caught seven passes against the Chiefs, gaining 65 yards. He was the primary option at tight end over Austin Seferian-Jenkins, and it could indicate things have changed at the position for Jacksonville. We'll see how the roles are next week against the Cowboys.

Niles Paul | Retired TE

Niles Paul catches both targets in Jaguars' win.

Paul gained 11 yards on his two receptions against the Jets. The veteran tight end is not currently on the fantasy radar.

Niles Paul | Retired TE

Niles Paul catches 22-yard pass in win over the Patriots.

It was his only catch of the game. Paul isn't a recommended fantasy option on an offense with plenty of weapons.

Niles Paul | Retired TE

Tight end Niles Paul is signing with the Jaguars, according to Mike Garafolo.

This likely eliminates Jacksonville's interest in free agent tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins. Paul, who was basically just stuck behind Jordan Reed and then Vernon Davis in Washington, has solid receiving ability as a tight end, and he'll tandem with Marcedes Lewis with the Jaguars. Paul will probably have the more consistent fantasy value in 2018, but the Jaguars might not feature him enough to make him a reliable TE1 option. It'll be interesting to see his role throughout the preseason.

Niles Paul | Retired TE

Niles Paul catches three passes in Week 13.

Paul gained 12 yards on his three receptions, as he caught a few underneath passes versus the Cowboys. Paul isn't a fantasy option at the moment.

Niles Paul | Retired TE

Niles Paul gets five targets versus the Giants.

Paul caught three passes in the Thanksgiving night win, gaining 16 yards. He's a big-time contributor to the Redskins in real life, as he's a special-teams captain, but Paul doesn't get enough work on offense to be a good fantasy option.

Niles Paul | Retired TE

Niles Paul catches two passes against the Saints.

Paul gained 11 yards on his two receptions, and he also had a five-yard carry in the game. His role isn't big enough to be a reliable fantasy option, even if Jordan Reed (hamstring) remains out.

Niles Paul | Retired TE

Niles Paul leaves game with a concussion.

Paul was injured on a running play by the goal line after he collided with Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee. He was down for a while and was clearly wobbly when walking off the field. Paul is done for the day, but hopefully he ends up feeling better soon.

Niles Paul | Retired TE

Niles Paul catches one pass in Week 7.

Eagles linebacker Jordan Hicks went down early in the game and Michael Kendricks was inactive, so the Redskins did a nice job attacking Philadelphia with their tight ends. Paul's reception was on a pass down the sideline for 32 yards. He's not a fantasy option right now, as his role isn not big enough.

Niles Paul | Retired TE

Niles Paul catches 16-yard score in Saturday night's preseason loss to Green Bay.

Paul's touchdown came in the third quarter from Colt McCoy, and it was his only catch of the day, though he did recover a fumble. The Redskins have a talented tight end group, so Paul won't be a fantasy option with Jordan Reed and Vernon Davis ahead of him.
