WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Pat Freiermuth | Steelers TE

Pat Freiermuth (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 16.

This was unfortunately expected because it's the rookie's second concussion of the year, and Pittsburgh will rely on Zach Gentry as their top tight end this weekend. He can be a decent flier with the hopes for a score versus Kansas City.

Pat Freiermuth (concussion) ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Freiermuth was hit in the head on a big third-down catch, and it will unfortunately knock him out for the rest of the day. Look for Zach Gentry to be Pittsburgh’s top tight end, and Freiermuth could be in danger of missing extended time after his second concussion in a month.

Pat Freiermuth is being evaluated for a concussion.

Freiermuth took a huge hit on a reception and is headed to the locker room to be evaluated, so he's officially in the concussion protocol. It would be a major shocker if the rookie tight end was able to return to today's game against the Titans. Before leaving, Freiermuth had four receptions for 37 yards. We hope he's feeling better soon.

Pat Freiermuth is in concussion protocol.

Freiermuth now must fully clear the NFL's concussion protocol to play against the Ravens this Sunday. The Steelers are already down Eric Ebron (knee), so they're already thin at tight end ahead of Week 13. Hopefully Freiermuth is feeling OK and can get cleared soon.

Pat Freiermuth | Steelers TE

The Steelers have selected Penn State tight end Pat Freiermuth with the No. 55 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Widely regarded as the top prospect at the position behind Kyle Pitts (and nicknamed "Baby Gronk" at one point), Freiermuth scored 16 touchdowns on 92 career receptions for the Nittany Lions—including eight on 26 grabs as a freshman in 2018. For the most part, fantasy owners need to keep their expectations in check for rookie tight ends (other than a unicorn like Pitts), but long-term, Freiermuth’s outlook is very promising as a well-rounded target that can work the intermediate part of the field similar to new Patriots tight end Hunter Henry. He lands with a Steelers franchise that feels like a great fit for him, and he'll remain in the state of Pennsylvania. The full scouting report for Pittsburgh’s second-round pick can be viewed in the link below.
