WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

P.J. Walker | Panthers QB

The Panthers are signing P.J. Walker, according to multiple reports.

Walker starred for the Houston Roughnecks in the XFL and appeared to be running away with league MVP before the league shut down its season due to the coronavirus pandemic. Walker threw for 15 touchdowns compared to four interceptions in the XFL, showing off his all-around dual-threat skillset. The Temple product played for Panthers head coach Matt Rhule in college, so this is a natural fit. Walker will compete to backup Teddy Bridgewater this season, and we'd say he's the early favorite for the job.

The Colts released Phillip Walker from the practice squad.

Walker might be back on the practice squad soon, but Indy now has two quarterbacks on their 53-man roster after signing veteran Brian Hoyer, and they're going in a different direction for a practice squad spot for now.

The Colts signed Phillip Walker to the practice squad.

Walker didn't make the final roster for Indianapolis, but the coaching staff likes him and got him back on the practice squad. The Temple product is off the fantasy radar for now.

The Colts cut Phillip Walker.

With Chad Kelly suspended to open the season, Jacoby Brissett is currently Indy's only quarterback for Week 1. They'll certainly be bringing in another quarterback soon. Walker could land back on the Colts practice squad if he clears waivers.

The Colts re-signed Phillip Walker to the practice squad.

This was pretty much expected after the Colts released Walker a couple of days ago. The team likes the former Temple quarterback, and they continue to keep him around.

Walker has been on an off the Colts roster and practice squad, so don't be surprised if he's back with them soon.

The Colts signed Phillip Walker to the practice squad.

Walker has been on and off the Colts practice squad and roster, and now he's back on the practice squad. The team likes the former Temple quarterback, and he'll look to work his way back on the 53-man roster at some point.

The Colts released Phillip Walker from the practice squad.

The former Temple quarterback spent last season and the start of this season on Indy's practice squad, but he's being released to make room for running back Jeremy McNichols. Walker should receive interested, and the Colts might be interested in bringing him back at some point.

The Colts have released Phillip Walker, according to Tom Pelissero.

Walker looked good early on in camp, but Stephen Morris performed better in the games and won the third quarterback job behind an injured Andrew Luck and Scott Tolzien. The 22-year-old Walker should—at worst—be signed to Indy's practice squad, especially with Luck's status, and could even get looks as a backup quarterback on another team's 53-man roster.

Rookie QB Phillip Walker plays in first NFL preseason game for the Colts.

Walker is an undrafted free agent from Temple, but he's reportedly been impressive in training camp. He went 9/20 for 86 yards along with two carries for 11 yards. Walker clearly has tools, as he has a strong arm, intelligence, good mobility, and a quick release. He might be able to stick around on the team's final roster, but if not he's definitely a practice squad candidate.
