WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Ricardo Louis | Free Agent WR

The Dolphins released Ricardo Louis.

The 2016 fourth-round pick out of Auburn wasn't going to make the final roster for Miami, but getting released now will hopefully give him a better chance to land on a 53-man roster for another team before the season kicks off in less than two weeks.

Ricardo Louis | Free Agent WR

The Dolphins are signing Ricardo Louis, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Louis will fill the veteran void left by Allen Hurns and Albert Wilson at receiver, but the team will probably be hoping the young guys show enough this month to have confidence in. DeVante Parker and Preston Williams are currently the only recommended options on the depth chart.

The Dolphins released Ricardo Louis.

Miami is cutting the roster down ahead of camp starting next week. Louis will look to land with another squad this summer.

Ricardo Louis | Free Agent WR

The Dolphins re-signed Ricardo Louis, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Louis has unfortunately dealt with season-ending injuries in the past two seasons, but the Dolphins liked what they saw from him in their building in 2019 and want him around for 2020. Louis is not a must-hold in dynasty leagues right now, but he'll look to carve out a role in Miami's offense moving forward.

The Dolphins placed Ricardo Louis on injured reserve.

[UPDATE: It is a season-ending knee injury for Louis according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, unfortunately making it two straight missed seasons after he missed 2018 with a neck injury.] It's unclear what injury Louis is dealing with, but Miami placing him on injured reserve indicates it's a serious one. If not, then an injury settlement could potentially be reached so that Louis can sign elsewhere. Louis would have likely been a reserve receiver that could have worked as a situational deep threat for the Dolphins this season.

Ricardo Louis | Free Agent WR

Ricardo Louis has agreed on a one-year deal with the Dolphins, according to Adam Schefter.

It's a homecoming for the Miami native after being waived by the Browns last week, and he should have a shot at carving out a role for himself under a new coaching staff. Louis just turned 25 last week.

Ricardo Louis | Free Agent WR

The Browns have waived Ricardo Louis, according to Ian Rapoport.

Louis missed the 2018 season with a neck injury, but the former fourth-round pick combined to catch 45 passes for 562 yards over his first two years in the league. Having just turned 25, Louis should be able to find a new home soon.

Ricardo Louis | Free Agent WR

Ricardo Louis is out for the season after neck surgery.

This is tough news to hear, as Louis was productive in his first two NFL seasons for the Browns, catching 45 passes for 562 yards; and he had an opportunity to step into a bigger role this season, especially with Josh Gordon's uncertain situation. We wish the former Auburn receiver luck as he recovers from neck surgery, and hopefully we see him back on the field next year.

Ricardo Louis catches one pass against the Bears.

Louis gained 35 yards on his lone reception (and lone target) of the game, but he fumbled the ball at about the five-yard line and it was recovered by Chicago. His role isn't big enough to be a fantasy option at the moment.

Ricardo Louis | Free Agent WR

Ricardo Louis catches one pass against the Jaguars.

Louis gained 15 yards on his lone reception of the game. He's not a fantasy option right now, especially with Corey Coleman now back in the mix.

Ricardo Louis | Free Agent WR

Ricardo Louis caught two passes for 15 yards in Sunday's loss to Detroit.

Louis is still without a touchdown this season, and that's not expected to change against Jacksonville next Sunday. Keep him on the waiver wire.

Ricardo Louis | Free Agent WR

Ricardo Louis catches two passes in Week 8.

Louis was targeted six times, gaining 42 yards on his two receptions. He’s Cleveland’s most consistent wide receiver right now, but Louis is not a reliable fantasy option yet.

Ricardo Louis | Free Agent WR

Ricardo Louis caught three passes for 21 yards in Sunday's loss to the Titans.

Louis would see a boost by Cody Kessler being named the team's starting quarterback, but even so, he's not a recommended fantasy option, especially in Week 8 against the Vikings.

Ricardo Louis | Free Agent WR

Ricardo Louis caught three passes for 25 yards in Sunday's loss.

Louis failed to make it three-straight quality games, as the entire offense struggled in Kevin Hogan's first career start. You're probably better off keeping Louis on the waiver wire. The Browns face the Titans in Week 7.

Ricardo Louis | Free Agent WR

Ricardo Louis leads team in catches and yards on Sunday.

Louis caught five passes for 71 yards, but he was held without a touchdown in a 17-14 loss. The 23-year-old now has two-straight games with at least five catches and 64 yards, and he might be the Cleveland wideout you want to own (if any), especially if DeShone Kizer is no longer the starting quarterback. Louis is worth a look in deeper leagues. The Browns take on the Texans next Sunday.

Ricardo Louis | Free Agent WR

Ricardo Louis leads Browns in receiving against the Bengals.

Louis caught five of nine targets for 64 yards, with a long of 31 yards in the Week 4 loss. It was Louis' best game of the season, and he's someone to keep an eye on in the coming weeks, though the quarterback situation for the Browns is not looking too great right now.

Ricardo Louis | Free Agent WR

Ricardo Louis catches one of six targets in Week 3.

Louis had a ten-yard reception in the loss to the Colts. He's off the fantasy radar, despite his ability.

Ricardo Louis | Free Agent WR

Ricardo Louis caught two passes for 27 yards in Sunday's loss.

Opportunity will be there over the next few weeks if Corey Coleman (hand) is out, but Rashard Higgins—who was recently promoted from the practice squad—might be "the guy" after catching seven passes for 95 yards in his first action of 2017. Even if Louis were to take some or a lot of Coleman's targets, it probably wouldn't lead to fantasy success in a bad offense.

Ricardo Louis | Free Agent WR

Ricardo Louis catches 29-yard pass in season opener.

He also had a three-yard catch, finishing with two receptions for 32 yards in a loss to Pittsburgh. The Browns offense isn't good enough to support more than a couple receiving options, so Louis can be ignored in fantasy leagues.

Ricardo Louis | Free Agent WR

Ricardo Louis records 10-yard reception in preseason opener.

Louis looks in position to win the third receiver job (excluding running back Duke Johnson) for the Browns. He will try to lock things up over the next two weeks, starting next week against the Giants.

Ricardo Louis | Free Agent WR

Browns receiver Ricardo Louis is "a different guy" this year.

Receviers coach Al Saunders said he looked back at Louis' film from last year's OTAs when he was a rookie and found it "funny" how different he is this season. Saunders says this year Louis is lining up, recognizing the defense, then going "100 miles per hour." Head coach Hue Jackson says the second-year receiver "has really improved" from last season. Louis was a fourth-rounder in the draft last year, and college football fans will remember him from his days at Auburn, including his miracle game-winning catch off a tipped ball on fourth-and-18 with under 30 seconds to go versus Georgia. He might be able to work his way into a top option for the Browns this season. Kenny Britt and Corey Coleman are likely the top two receivers right now, but Coleman missed some of offseason training with an injury.
