WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Rodney Adams | Bears WR

The Bears officially signed Rodney Adams.

Adams retired in 2018, but the 2017 fifth-round pick of the Vikings is officially back in the NFL. Adams can play both inside and outside, and he can also contribute in the return game. He'll look to crack Chicago's 53-man roster, but the practice squad could be a good landing spot if he's cut at the end of the summer.

Rodney Adams | Bears WR

The Colts placed wide receiver Rodney Adams on the Reserve/Retired List.

This a surprise, as Adams is apparently retiring after one season in the NFL. Adams was a fifth-round selection of the Vikings last year, but he did not see game action and was eventually waived and put on the practice squad for the second half of the season and the playoffs. The Colts signed him to a reserve/future contract in February, but it appears Adams is at least putting his football career on hold for the time being. Perhaps more information will come out explaining things, but we wish Adams the best of luck if he decides to move on from football.

Rodney Adams | Bears WR

Rodney Adams scores in Vikings' third preseason game.

Adams caught three-of-five targets for 35 yards and a touchdown in the exhibition versus San Francisco. The 2017 fifth-rounder is a safe bet to make Minnesota's final roster, but he'll almost certainly be out there on Thursday night in the team's final preseason game.

Rodney Adams | Bears WR

Rodney Adams catches four-of-six targets in second preseason game.

Adams had four receptions for 26 yards against Seattle, but he did also lose a fumble in the game. The Vikings fifth-rounder is battling for a final spot on the roster and has a couple more preseason games to show what he can do.

Rodney Adams | Bears WR

The Vikings select USF receiver Rodney Adams with the 170th pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Despite his lanky frame, Adams is a shifty receiver that can play in the slot, but he also has very good speed and ran a 4.44 40-yard dash. Adams had over 800 yards in both his junior and senior seasons with South Florida. Adams can also return kicks and contribute on special teams. The Vikings lost Cordarrelle Patterson in free agency, so Adams is a guy they may use to return kicks this season.
