WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Ryquell Armstead | Jaguars RB

The Jaguars are signing Ryquell Armstead to the active roster.

The 2019 fifth-round pick of the Jags lands back on the team's 53-man roster after his early career was pretty much derailed due to unfortunate issues with COVID-19 last year. Armstead is a bruising runner that'll be an interesting option behind starter James Robinson over the final three games this season.

The Saints signed Ryquell Armstead to the practice squad.

Tony Jones Jr. (ankle) is on injured reserve, and Armstead is someone to watch that could work his way onto the active roster soon. Armstead would bring an intriguing power element alongside Alvin Kamara if he ever gets the call-up.

The Giants claimed Ryquell Armstead.

After getting waived by the Jaguars, the Temple product will be moving back up the East Coast to join the Giants. While New York has a deep backfield, Armstead should have a decent shot to win a roster spot this summer.

The Jaguars have waived Ryquell Armstead, according to ESPN's Field Yates.

Armstead missed the 2020 season due to complications from COVID-19, so hopefully he's healthy and fit to get a fair shot elsewhere. The former Temple standout runs with power and aggressiveness, which will make him a name to keep an eye on from a fantasy perspective in both redraft and dynasty leagues; Miami and Atlanta come to mind as strong landing spots.

Ryquell Armstead is expected to be out for the rest of the season.

Armstead was placed on the COVID-19 list multiple times during the summer, which was a major surprise, and ESPN reports that the second-year running back has had complications due to the coronavirus. You obviously hate to hear this, and hopefully Armstead is feeling better soon. James Robinson has seized the lead role in the Jaguars backfield this season.

Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone thinks Ryquell Armstead will be out "a while".

Armstead is on the reserve/COVID-19 list for the second time, and he's missed a ton of practice time this summer. The second-year back is an intriguing player that could offer fantasy upside whenever he hits the field, but the Jacksonville running back group will presumably enter the season with a full-blown committee approach.

The Jaguars placed Ryquell Armstead on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Armstead has now been placed on the COVID-19 list twice this summer, so it’s a bit of a peculiar situation. The second-year back is now in doubt for Week 1. Armstead had already missed a chunk of time this summer.

The Jaguars activated Ryquell Armstead off the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Armstead cleared the league's protocol and can finally join his teammates on the field. The second-year running back is an intriguing late-round or waiver-wire target in fantasy leagues as Leonard Fournette likely enters his last season with the Jaguars.

The Jaguars have placed Ryquell Armstead on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Armstead is hoping to earn a change-of-pace role behind Leonard Fournette this season, but the signing of Chris Thompson will limit his standalone value. Gardner Minshew II is also on the reserve/COVID-19 list for Jacksonville.

The Jaguars places Ryquell Armstead on the PUP list.

The hope was that Armstead would be full strength for the start of training camp, but his hamstring seemingly isn’t where the team needs it to be. The rookie running back will look to get cleared soon as he gets set to compete for the primary backup role behind Leonard Fournette.

Ryquell Armstead | Jaguars RB

The Jaguars have selected Temple running back Ryquell Armstead in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Armstead had his best season at Temple as a senior, rushing for 1,098 yards and 13 touchdowns on 210 attempts, and he then performed well in post-season events during the pre-draft process. Armstead is a powerful runner that won’t be fun for defenders to tackle, and there’s a chance he could become a great goal-line option for Jacksonville at the very least—though the presence of Leonard Fournette makes the less of a possibility in 2019. The Temple product didn’t get a ton of opportunities as a pass-catcher in college, but he’ll likely do most of his contributing as a downhill runner in the NFL. The future of Fournette with the Jaguars could determine Armstead's fantasy value in the coming years.
