The Lions are re-signing Tim Boyle.
Boyle started three games while Jared Goff was out last season, and the Lions feel good about him as a depth option at quarterback. The former Packers quarterback is in a good spot with Detroit, where he'll look to continue to develop.

The Lions have designated Tim Boyle to return from injured reserve, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
Boyle will have three weeks to be activated, and it sounds like he has a good shot at being ready to backup Jared Goff coming off Detroit's bye week. The Lions have a tough couple of games over the next two weeks with trips to Pittsburgh and Cleveland.

Tim Boyle (thumb) is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
The news is said to be a best-case scenario, and Boyle is an obvious candidate for the PUP list to begin the season. David Blough should be Jared Goff's backup until Boyle is healthy.
