WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Tra Carson | Free Agent RB

The Lions released Tra Carson.

Detroit added D'Andre Swift in the second round of the draft, and they have a crowded running back room. Hopefully Carson is able to land with a new team soon, but he's not a must-hold in dynasty leagues at the moment.

The Lions released Tra Carson from injured reserve.

Carson was recently put on injured reserve because of a hamstring issue, but he's apparently now healthy enough and will look to sign elsewhere. Carson does not need to be held in dynasty leagues.

The Lions placed Tra Carson (hamstring) on injured reserve.

This is a tough break for Carson, who was just leading the Detroit backfield last week after Kerryon Johnson was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury. Carson going to IR is a boost for Ty Johnson and J.D. McKissic, but this is a committee backfield that's difficult to trust in fantasy lineups.

Tra Carson (hamstring) is questionable for Week 9.

Carson surprisingly led the backfield last week, but whether or not he suits up on Sunday, the entire group is probably best avoided against the Raiders.

Tra Carson starts for the Lions in Week 8.

While most people expected Ty Johnson to get the start and most of the work for Detroit with Kerryon Johnson (knee) out, it was Carson that led the Lions backfield against the Giants, carrying 12 times for 34 yards. Meanwhile, Johnson had seven carries for 25 yards (along with one reception for 13 yards), Paul Perkins had three carries for four yards, and J.D. McKissic had one carry for -1 yards (along with three receptions for two yards). Carson was just waived by the Packers less than two weeks ago, so it's cool to see him get an opportunity like this in Detroit; the 2016 undrafted free agent had never had an NFL carry until this season. In what looks like a full-blown committee backfield, no one from this group will be a highly recommended fantasy option against the Raiders next week.
