WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Tre’Quan Smith | Saints WR

The Saints are re-signing Tre'Quan Smith.

Smith is getting a two-year deal to stay in New Orleans. In 2022, Smith will look to stay healthy and build on chemistry with quarterback Jameis Winston; the two profile as a good match stylistically, but they were unable to get much going last season.

Tre’Quan Smith | Saints WR

The Saints activated Tre’Quan Smith (hamstring).

Smith is officially coming off injured reserve and will make his 2021 debut tonight against the Seahawks. The big receiver is someone to keep an eye on as a potential down-the-field and red-zone target for Jameis Winston.

Tre’Quan Smith | Saints WR

The Saints have designated Tre'Quan Smith to return from injured reserve.

Smith's status has been a bit of a mystery, but it's a great sign that he's healthy coming off the bye, and he should make his season debut as early as this Monday night. The big-bodied wideout is an ideal fit with Jameis Winston's skillset and will help open up the New Orleans passing attack.

Tre’Quan Smith | Saints WR

Tre’Quan Smith (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 1.

Smith has been battling a hamstring injury since training camp, and this will be a significant loss for a team that won’t have Michael Thomas (ankle) for at least the first six weeks. Consider this news a downgrade for Jameis Winston against Green Bay.

Tre’Quan Smith | Saints WR

Tre’Quan Smith (hamstring) is doubtful to return for the Saints.

The injured Saints receiving corps takes another hit, with Smith unlikely to return today against the Chiefs. Before leaving, Smith caught one pass for 25 yards in the Week 15 matchup.

Tre’Quan Smith | Saints WR

Tre'Quan Smith cleared the concussion protocol.

He is not on the final injury report and will play on Sunday. We'll see if the bigger-armed Taysom Hill can provide a bit of a boost for Smith as a downfield target, but he's not a highly recommended fantasy option in Week 11.

Tre’Quan Smith | Saints WR

Tre'Quan Smith (concussion) is out for the rest of today's game.

Smith left in the first half, and his day is now done as the second half gets underway. Smith did not have any receptions before leaving. We hope he's feeling better soon.

Tre’Quan Smith | Saints WR

Tre'Quan Smith (ankle) was officially a full participant in today's practice.

The Saints are getting healthier following their bye week, and the second-year receiver looks set to return to the lineup this Sunday against the Falcons. Smith, who has missed the previous three games with his ankle injury and has appeared in just three games total this season, is an interesting pickup in deeper leagues in particular as the potential No. 2 in a high-powered offense.

Tre’Quan Smith | Saints WR

Tre'Quan Smith (ankle) officially remains out of practice.

Smith's status for Sunday night against the Cowboys is not looking good, but we'll see how he's listed on the final Week 4 injury reported when it's released sometime tomorrow.

Tre’Quan Smith | Saints WR

Tre'Quan Smith (ankle) has officially been ruled out for Week 3.

Consider Smith week-to-week with his ankle injury. Outside of Michael Thomas, none of New Orleans' wide receivers are highly recommended fantasy options with Drew Brees out of the lineup.

Tre’Quan Smith | Saints WR

Tre'Quan Smith (ankle) officially did not practice today.

It's only Wednesday, but Smith might be on the bad side of questionable for this Sunday after just injuring his ankle in Week 2's loss to the Rams. We'll update you with his practice status tomorrow and Friday.

Tre’Quan Smith | Saints WR

Tre'Quan Smith leaves game with apparent ankle injury.

Smith just appeared to have his ankle rolled on after a nice run on a long reception. The Saints are already thin at receiver right now, so hopefully Smith is able to get back out there soon.

Tre’Quan Smith | Saints WR

Tre'Quan Smith catches one pass in playoff loss.

It went for ten yards, and he was targeted twice. Smith flashed big-time talent at times as a rookie, but the third-round pick won't be assured of anything more than a rotational role next year, and he might be overdrafted in a somewhat unpredictable offense.

Tre’Quan Smith | Saints WR

Tre'Quan Smith catches one pass in playoff win versus the Eagles.

Smith caught one pass for 15 yards along with one carry for five yards in the Divisional Round victory. The reception was a nice clutch catch on a pass that was slightly behind him for a first-down. The rookie receiver will look to do some damage against the Rams in the NFC title game in one week.

Tre’Quan Smith | Saints WR

Tre’Quan Smith scores in loss to Carolina.

Smith caught three passes for 30 yards, including a nine-yard touchdown reception. The rookie had been quiet in recent weeks, but hopefully the score gives him momentum into the postseason. Smith's first regular campaign finishes with 28 receptions for 427 yards (15.3 average) and five touchdowns.

Tre’Quan Smith | Saints WR

Tre'Quan Smith catches one pass in Week 16.

Smith gained 11 yards on his lone reception against the Steelers. With Ted Ginn Jr. off injured reserve and back into the lineup, it looks like the rookie receive is now more of the No. 3/4 receiver for the Saints. He's not a highly-recommended fantasy option next week against the Steelers, unless certain players rest and Smith is expected to have a huge role with the more-than-capable Teddy Bridgewater at quarterback.

Tre’Quan Smith | Saints WR

Tre’Quan Smith catches two passes in Week 15.

Smith gained 15 yards on his two receptions (four targets) against the Panthers. On a third down, he had an opportunity to come down with a potential first down catch, but the pass might have been slightly high and wasn't an easy grab. The rookie receiver will look to do more damage at home in Week 16, as he's had more success and a couple of big games in the Superdome this season compared to some struggles on the road. He's very difficult to trust in lineups with fantasy titles on the line, though.

Tre’Quan Smith | Saints WR

Tre’Quan Smith did not catch a pass in tonight's loss to the Cowboys.

The rookie receiver was targeted once in the Saints 'loss, as he was given a quick-hitting slant route designed as a screen type of play to get him into the end zone. The throw might not have been right on the money into his chest (it was more at his head), but it's a play he should have made and likely would have scored on. The rookie receiver might have lost some playing time based on the play, and Saints head coach Sean Payton was clearly not happy with the play. No one for the Saints had a great game, but this was a long way from the 10/157/1 outing Smith had a couple weeks ago against the Eagles. Smith might be in the dog house, so he carries more risk as a FLEX option next week against Tampa Bay.

Tre’Quan Smith | Saints WR

Tre’Quan Smith is off the Week 13 injury report.

Smith practiced fully today, and he’s ready to go for tomorrow night against the Cowboys after missing Thanksgiving Night with his toe injury. The rookie receiver is in the FLEX mix as one of Drew Brees’ targets in an elite offense.

Tre’Quan Smith | Saints WR

Tre'Quan Smith (foot) is inactive for tonight's game.

The rookie receiver unfortunately isn’t ready for the Thanksgiving nightcap after his huge 10/157/1 performance last week against the Eagles. Brandon Marshall is also inactive, so Michael Thomas should be set for a ton of targets in a good matchup. This was a short week, and Smith should be ready to go for Week 13.

Tre’Quan Smith | Saints WR

Tre'Quan Smith (foot) is officially listed as questionable for tomorrow night.

Smith is coming off a monstrous ten-catch, 157-yard, one-touchdown game against the Eagles, but a foot injury puts him in some doubt for tomorrow night against the Falcons on a short week. The Saints might not want to risk their rookie receiver, so he's probably a true game-time call with it coming down to how he's feeling and moving in pre-game warmups. Smith's status will be known by 7:00 PM ET tomorrow, so be sure to interrupt your Thanksgiving to ensure you can place him in your fantasy lineup if you were planning on playing him.

Tre’Quan Smith | Saints WR

Tre'Quan Smith explodes for huge game against the Eagles.

Philadelphia attempted to take away Michael Thomas, and Smith took advantage with a huge performance in New Orleans' 45-7 Week 11 victory. Smith was targeted 13 times, catching ten passes for 157 yard and a touchdown. The score was on a 15-yard strike to the front of the end zone, where Smith held on in between two defenders. The rookie receiver made more spectacular catches in the game in what was another huge performance. Smith obviously has the potential for these type of blowup games in a great offense with a great quarterback, so you could do worse than him as a high-upside FLEX option—though he does have a low floor.

Tre’Quan Smith | Saints WR

Tre'Quan Smith doesn't catch a pass in Week 10.

Smith wasn't targeted against the Bengals, so it's difficult to trust the rookie wide receiver in fantasy lineups right now despite his upside. Next week against the Eagles might be a good spot where he offers some upside in deeper leagues, though.

Tre’Quan Smith | Saints WR

Tre'Quan Smith scores against the Rams.

Smith caught two passes for 23 yards and a touchdown, with the score coming on a four-yard slant where he ran a nice route to set up the defender and give Drew Brees some space inside to throw an accurate ball. The rookie is the No. 2 wide receiver for the Saints, but he's not getting quite enough looks to be a highly-recommended fantasy option yet.

Tre’Quan Smith | Saints WR

Tre’Quan Smith held in check as the Saints win with defense and the running game.

Smith caught three passes (on four targets) for 18 yards against Minnesota. The rookie has just ten catches this season, but he's still averaging 19.1 yards per reception, and we'll see if he can beat a struggling Rams secondary next Sunday as New Orleans looks to improve to 7-1. Smith is a worthwhile FLEX option in all formats.

Tre’Quan Smith | Saints WR

Tre’Quan Smith caught three passes for 44 yards in Sunday's win over the Ravens.

It was a tough matchup, but Smith was tied for second on the team with six targets, and he's only going to be more involved as the season progresses. The rookie should be owned in all leagues heading into a Sunday Night Football showdown with the Vikings. Consider Smith a quality FLEX that could easily achieve WR2 status down the stretch.

Tre’Quan Smith | Saints WR

Tre'Quan Smith catches first two career touchdowns during record-breaking night.

Lost in Drew Brees breaking the all-time passing yardage mark was an excellent game from the rookie receiver on the receiving end of the record-breaking 62-yard touchdown pass: Tre'Quan Smith. The third-round receiver caught three passes for 111 yards and two touchdown against the Redskins, getting free for the record-breaker and then getting deep for another touchdown later in the game. Smith also had a spectacular toe-tapping catch on the sideline in the game. He's not a starting fantasy option quite yet, but Smith is certainly someone to keep an eye on moving forward. Smith should be on the radar for waiver-wire pickups this week.

Tre’Quan Smith | Saints WR

Tre'Quan Smith catches first career pass in Week 2.

The third-round rookie receiver from UCF had an 18-yard reception in New Orleans' win against Cleveland. Smith is more of a dynasty option at the moment, but he could develop into a sizable role this season.

Tre’Quan Smith | Saints WR

Tre'Quan Smith is reportedly "in a great position to get on the field" this season.

Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated says he saw the third-round rookie receiver make a "circus catch" at Saints practice and was "assured that was no isolated incident." With Cameron Meredith coming off a very serious knee injury from last summer, Smith might immediately be a top-three receiver for the Saints along with Michael Thomas and Ted Ginn. In dynasty leagues in particular, Smith needs to be watched closely. It'll be interesting to see how much time he gets with the first team in this week's third preseason game.

Tre’Quan Smith | Saints WR

The Saints have selected UCF wide receiver Tre'Quan Smith with the No. 91 pick (third round) in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Smith was a productive member of the Golden Knights during the program's emergence into one of the best teams in the country last season. As a junior last year, Smith had 59 receptions for 1,171 yards and 13 touchdowns—including five receptions for 89 yards against Auburn in the Peach Bowl win. Smith had a good showing during the Senior Bowl, and he did a great job at the NFL Combine including a 4.49 40-yard dash and a 37.5 vertical. The Saints appear set at the top three receiver spots with Michael Thomas, Ted Ginn Jr., and Cameron Meredith this season, but the long-term outlook for Smith is bright.
