The Wolf Sports Newsletter is a weekly newsletter giving an efficient update on the recent happenings in the world of sports. In an era where Twitter is a primary news source for many sports fans, you can think of The Wolf Sports Newsletter as a Tweet Sheet delivering key information every Monday. The focus is on football, but big news from other sectors of sports will also be included to keep you in the loop with all the action to start the week.
The Wolf Sports Newsletter is beginning in article form but will eventually also be delivered via email. Create a free Wolf Sports account if you are interested in getting The Wolf Sports Newsletter via email when available.
This week’s newsletter is a bit shorter while in the dead zone of the sports calendar, but be sure to watch for the release of our annual NFL expansion team series over the next four days (Part I here).

- The news was first reported by Puck News.

👟 The NFL privately “blames the players” for slipping on the field during Super Bowl LVII, according to ProFootballTalk.
- Coming days after Brandon Graham said the Chiefs were “blessed” by the field conditions, this is “per a league source” and has quickly been run with as fact by social media.
- Former Eagles safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson made it clear on Twitter that switching “through 3 different cleats” didn’t do anything to help his footing, adding in another tweet that if the Super Bowl were run back on “legit grass” the Philly defensive line would have dominated.
- While many Eagles players and fans will probably always feel something shady went down, the Chiefs won the game and the situation will be just a footnote.
Man pre game I went through 3 different cleats!! Even the studs wasn’t working 😒 explain that please https://t.co/HzHLtnRyot

✈️ Dalvin Cook’s agent Zac Hiller tells Paul Andrew Esden Jr. that the Jets are a “great situation” for his client.
- Hiller was asked about the Jets specifically and dove into the state of the team for a couple of minutes—noting the presence of Aaron Rodgers, a strong roster, and the ability to compete for a Super Bowl.
- This comes on the heels of rumors that the Jets are serious contenders to sign the former Vikings star.
- Jets fans seem to want Cook, but the dynamic running back’s hometown Dolphins are among the other teams that remain in the mix.
I asked Dalvin Cook’s (@dalvincook) agent, @ZacHiller of @LAASportsEnt, about the @ProFootballTalk report that the #Jets are ‘gaining momentum’ in the Cook sweepstakes: ‘they’re all in, they want to win a #SuperBowl’ + he said Aaron Rodgers (@AaronRodgers12) is someone ‘you… pic.twitter.com/MaEZrbPlkR

🙌 Saints tight end Foster Moreau is in full remission from Hogkin’s lymphoma.
- Moreau was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year after it was discovered by Saints doctors during a physical.
- The former Raiders tight end joins his former quarterback Derek Carr in New Orleans, and he’s part of a strong tight end group with Taysom Hill and Juwan Johnson.
- We look forward to seeing him healthy and on the field in 2023.
After a few tumultuous months, I’ve been blessed with the news that I am in full remission from Hodgkin Lymphoma! I’m so grateful to everyone who reached out to offer their love and support; our prayers were answered. From here I will continue to live my life as God intended
