Don’t look now, but we are just a couple weeks away from the relase of Madden 19. And we can say all we want how much we want NFL 2K to return, but unfortunately, EA and Madden is our only choice right now, so die-hard football fans—myself included—will buy the game once again simply because it’s the only NFL title on the market. For those who play MUT, I would advise against spending any money on packs besides perhaps the Hall of Fame edition if you want to get the game three days early. If that’s the case, you have quite a few options to build the early foundation of your team.
H.O.F. Edition Bonuses
Choice of 1 of 5 Legends
QB Dan Marino (80)
RB Terrell Davis (80)
WR Terrell Owens (80)
LB Brian Urlacher (80)
CB Rod Woodson (80)
1 Elite Cover Athlete Player
WR Antonio Brown (89)
As seen in the picture, you will also get 12 Gold Team Fantasy Packs which will be different for everyone, 2 signature uniforms, and 1 training pack. Plus, you will get to choose an elite player from 1 of 32 NFL teams, but I believe they start at a 68 overall and can be upgraded to the mid 80s.
Loyalty Rewards Program
Team Captains
There are also new Team Captains this year, which allows gamers to choose between one of four legends that are said to boost all season long after starting as a 75 overall.
WR Jerry Rice (75)
TE Shannon Sharpe (75)
LE Michael Strahan (75)
LB Ray Lewis (75)
Rookie Premiere Promotion
Anyone playing Madden 18 has a chance to get a jump start on MUT 19 with the Rookie Premiere cards:
QB Sam Darnold (77)
RB Saquon Barkley (79)
WR Calvin Ridley (77)
TE Hayden Hurst (76)
G Quenton Nelson (79)
RE Bradley Chubb (79)
ROLB Leighton Vander Esch (76)
MLB Roquan Smith (79)
CB Denzel Ward (79)
SS Derwin James (77)
The rookies will dynamically update throughout Madden 19, so if Saquon Barkley were to get a Team of the Week card at 83 overall for example, your card would automatically convert to an 83 overall. However, I don’t believe the card art or chemistry gets upgraded, which is a disappointment.
Who Should You Pick?
I think everyone would be wise to open their 12 Team Fantasy packs first, as you don’t want to be stuck with a ton of repeats at a position if, for example, you picked Brian Urlacher and Zach Brown and then pull a couple better MLBs. Or you might choose Dan Marino and then get an elite Aaron Rodgers. You also need to decide your scheme ahead of time, but based on the players we know are available, this is what a team could look like to start MUT 19. (I have included the five best Rookie Premiere players in my opinion, too, but some people might have ten and others might have none.)

Of course, you can mix and match depending on your preferences and scheme, but that looks like a pretty solid start for MUT 19.
MUT always gets me to try the game but it’s always terrible
I’ll buy it I guess.
I am not buying this year. Making a stand.
