We’re getting closer. EA Sports revealed that all 134 FBS schools will be in College Football 25, and multiple reports say that over 11,000 players can opt-in while receiving $600 and a copy of the game. So, it’s becoming official, and it has us wondering who the top players in the game will be.
Colorado WR/CB Travis Hunter – 97
Travis Hunter seems like the best bet to lead player ratings in College Football 25, and the superstar dual threat will have high attributes across the board along with an overall rating that should be 95+.
Georgia S Malaki Starks – 96
One of the best players in college football regardless of position, Malaki Starks leads what will likely be the top-rated team in the game in the Georgia Bulldogs. The All-American safety has two years of playing at a high level and should be in this 96 overall range.
Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders – 96
Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders will be one of the most interesting players in terms of where he’s rated. People will say the Buffs weren’t a good team last year, but the talent of Shedeur is undeniable—and he might even be the cover athlete given his high profile.
Michigan CB Will Johnson – 95
Will Johnson started as a true freshman a couple of seasons ago and then helped Michigan win the national title in the 2023 season. He’s an elite cornerback and will be among a few highly rated Wolverines this summer.
Ohio State S Caleb Downs – 95
Perhaps this is too high for a second-year player, but Caleb Downs starred as a freshman for Alabama and the SEC Freshman of the Year now moves over to Ohio State. It’s just easy to envision him being the highest-rated transfer player in College Football 25.
Ohio State RB TreVeyon Henderson – 95
Ohio State transfer Quinshon Judkins might also push into this mid-90s range for his player rating, but TreVeyon Henderson gets a slight edge in these projections thanks in part to being an incumbent and likely starter in the backfield for the Buckeyes. They’ll both be a ton of fun to use in the game.
Texas QB Quinn Ewers – 94
Quinn Ewers helped Texas make the College Football Playoff last season, and the Longhorns quarterback will certainly be among the highest-rated quarterbacks in the game. The 92-96 range feels like a solid prediction.
Missouri WR Luther Burden III – 94
Luther Burden III had 86 catches for 1,212 yards and nine touchdowns last season, and he’s one of the top returning players in the nation. College Football 25 will likely have him squarely in the 90s.
