Madden 24 is out this week, with early access users able to play already. Many are probably wondering about the best teams to use in the game, and this week’s Top Ten Tuesday ranks ten of the best squads in Madden 24.
10. Miami Dolphins
We know about all the speed on offense for the Dolphins, but focusing on the defense, there’s a lot to like about Miami in Madden 24. Jalen Ramsey and Xavien Howard are one of the top cornerback duos in the game, and the front seven includes options like Christian Wilkins and Bradley Chubb to control. Vic Fangio’s scheme is a boost for the Dolphins, too.
9. New York Jets
In addition to Aaron Rodgers and some other former Packers, the Jets just added Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook—so there are exciting possibilities to utilize with the Cook and Breece Hall tandem. Robert Saleh’s defense has Sauce Gardner locking down one side of the virtual gridiron, and the pass rush has plenty of depth to stay fresh.
8. San Francisco 49ers
Kyle Shanahan’s playbook in Madden 24 might be the best in the game, and Brock Purdy is fantastic in it despite not being rated highly. Purdy’s 82 play-action, 83 throw-on-the-run, and solid accuracy attributes—paired with guys like Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and George Kittle—make the Niners offense tough to stop in the game when you get in a rhythm. And we know about the feared defense with stars on all three levels.
7. Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs would of course be higher from a real-life perspective, but Madden cannot really capture the essence of what Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid are able to do together. Also, the Kansas City defense isn’t loaded with highly rated players. Overall, though, Mahomes is like a powered-up quarterback that can do crazy things in video-game form, and he plays in a deep offense that still has Travis Kelce at tight end.
6. Cincinnati Bengals
In Madden 24, the Bengals present a pick-your-poison predicament when trying to defend Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins on the outside with Joe Burrow pulling the trigger—and the Cincy offense also includes Joe Mixon, Tyler Boyd, Irv Smith Jr., and a solid offensive line that added Orlando Brown Jr. at left tackle. Throw in Lou Anarumo’s defense and the Bengals are one of the top teams in the game.
5. Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers are also stacked, with Derwin James (95), Joey Bosa (91), Austin Ekeler (89), Keenan Allen (89), Corey Linsley (88), and Mike Williams (88) all getting high ratings. And their quarterback Justin Herbert (87 overall at launch) is one of the top quarterbacks in the game and should see his rating rise throughout the year.
4. Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys have one of the best rosters in football, and that translates to a star-filled roster in Madden 24. Throwing Trevon Diggs’ direction is almost asking for a turnover, and he’s not even the top corner on the team in the game, with Stephon Gilmore getting a 91 overall—so it’s going to be difficult to throw on Dallas. There’s also Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence as two superb pass rushers, and the offense has Dak Prescott, Tony Pollard, CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks, and Michael Gallup paired with a great offensive line that includes a 99 overall in Zack Martin.
3. Buffalo Bills
The team with the Madden 24 cover star had to be near the top of the rankings. Josh Allen’s 99 throw power and all-around game at quarterback means the opposition must defend every blade of grass, with Stefon Diggs (96 overall) as a premier target in an underrated group. Buffalo has five players with a 90+ overall.
2. Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles also boast a handful of top players at 90+ overall in Madden 24, including Lane Johnson, Darius Slay Jr., Jason Kelce, A.J. Brown, and Haason Reddick. In other words, MVP runner-up Jalen Hurts (88) isn’t even in that group, and the roster also includes star-level players like DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, and All-Pro cornerback James Bradberry—along with the Georgia guys on defense.
1. Baltimore Ravens
The No. 1 team in the game is a yearly fan favorite. The Ravens have six players (including future Hall of Fame kicker Justin Tucker, who is an undervalued weapon in the game) at 90+ overall, so they’re loaded with high-end difference-makers. 91-overall, 96-speed Lamar Jackson might be the ultimate weapon in Madden 24, and he has his most talented receiving group to work with yet. Defensively, Marlon Humphrey, Roquan Smith, and Marcus Williams are superb—the only thing missing is a top-notch edge rusher.
