On Friday, HBO quietly dropped the trailer for their upcoming TV movie starring Al Pacino as former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno, and if these two minutes are any indication, Pacino absolutely knocks it out of the park.
The eight-time Oscar nominee stars alongside Golden Globe nominee Riley Keough, who plays reporter Sara Ganim. It’s unclear how the movie itself will depict what Paterno did or didn’t know and did or didn’t do, but we can only hope that the balance/fairness of the trailer holds true for the film.
Either way, Pacino is likely to bring a ton of heart to the character, and another Emmy nomination and/or win is likely in his future after his 2010 role in HBO’s ‘You Don’t Know Jack’.
Paterno will premiere on April 7, 2018 on HBO.
Hoping this doesn’t depict Joe Pa as a villain. Trailer looks good.
It probably will. Though the end made it seem like maybe not.
Pacino is the best
Looks great.
