Join now >The Eagles have selected Stanford wide receiver J.J. Arcega-Whiteside with the No. 57 pick (second round) in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Arcega-Whiteside has been a bit overlooked throughout the pre-draft process, but he is a top-end rebounder that knows how to use body positioning to shield off cornerbacks in the red zone, which should make him an immediate threat for double-digit scores for the Eagles, depending on his playing time. This could mean Nelson Agholor is on his way out of Philadelphia, though it’s probably unwise for the Eagles to get rid of one of the heroes from their Super Bowl LII victory—but we’ll see. Arcega-Whiteside also showed surprising speed with a 4.49 40-yard dash at his Pro Day, so that bodes well for his ability to create some separation against NFL defenders as he transitions to the next level. The Stanford product will be at his best if Carson Wentz gives him opportunities to make plays in jump-ball situations.

Tyreek Hill will not be charged with child abuse.
There simply isn’t enough evidence to prove it was Hill that caused the broken arm of his small child, so he isn’t being charged. This certainly doesn’t mean that Hill won’t be disciplined by the NFL, as the league will likely continue with its own investigation—and the fact the the District Attorney said there is evidence that a crime was committed isn’t a good sign for Hill. We suspect a suspension will be coming for Hill, but it likely won’t be a lengthy absence if he is indeed suspended.

The Chiefs have selected Georgia wide receiver Mecole Hardman with the No. 56 pick (second round) in the 2019 NFL Draft.
This is a definite indication that troubled wide receiver Tyreek Hill could be on his way out of Kansas City. One of the fastest receivers in this year’s class (4.33 40-yard dash), Hardman could be an immediate replacement for Hill, and it wouldn’t be at all surprising to see him become a serious fantasy factor as a rookie with tremendous weekly upside while catching passes from reigning league MVP Patrick Mahomes. To start his career, Hardman will probably be one of the top desperation plays (i.e. those looking for the highest of weekly point totals) for redraft owners, and dynasty owners will get plenty of upside targeting him rookie drafts.

The Steelers have finalized a new three-year contract for Ben Roethlisberger, according to multiple reports.
The deal was first reported by Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The Steelers and their franchise quarterback wanted to get a new contract done before the draft, and the two sides were able to come to an agreement to keep Big Ben in Pittsburgh through the 2021 season. Roethlisberger will be 39 years old when this contract expires, and he’s come quite a long way from apparently contemplating retirement a couple of offseason ago. As someone that’s gotten in better shape over the years and still has an excellent supporting cast sans Antonio Brown, Roethlisberger should remain among the league’s best quarterbacks in 2019, and he should remain a QB1 option for fantasy purposes.

The Cowboys have officially picked up Ezekiel Elliott’s fifth-year option.
This was obviously an absolutely no-brainer for Dallas, as Elliott has led the NFL in rushing twice in his first three seasons (and it might have been all three years if not for his suspension in 2017). The two sides will likely explore if a long-term deal is possible this offseason, but Elliott will remain in Dallas through the 2020 season, and don’t expect him to go anywhere after that either.

The Eagles have selected Penn State running back Miles Sanders with the No. 53 pick (second round) in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Following up Saquon Barkley is obviously no easy task, but Miles Sanders was more than exceptional in the role, rushing for 1,274 yards and nine touchdowns last season after finally getting his opportunity with the Nittany Lions when Barkley went to the NFL. In Philadelphia, Sanders might have a chance to vault to the top of the depth chart as a well-rounded runner with excellent feet to compliment his underrated size/power, though Jordan Howard might not be easy to pass on the depth chart. He needs to clean up the fumbles, but from a fantasy perspective, Sanders is worth considering as a top-five pick in rookie drafts, and how this summer shakes out will likely determine his early value in redraft leagues.

The Raiders have moved on from Marshawn Lynch, according to multiple reports.
Another season in Oakland for the Raiders made it feel like a slight possibility the area-native Lynch would be back one more season, but it’s not to be. This isn’t a surprise considering Lynch is 33 years old and is tough to count on as a primary workhorse back, while it’d be tough to have a personality like that as a backup that sparingly plays. Expect the Raiders to be interested in running backs early in this week’s draft, potentially as early as No. 24 with Alabama’s Josh Jacobs. Lynch will likely officially retire in the coming weeks.
