Matt Cassel sees action in relief of Matthew Stafford.

Cassel was 5/11 for 45 yards, also adding a 14-yard run. The veteran backup saw action in garbage time to wisely preserve Stafford’s health. Hopefully Detroit can compete for 60 minutes next week against Green Bay.

Tarik Cohen gets seven touches in Bears’ win.

Cohen had six carries for 12 yards and one reception for seven yards against the Niners. San Francisco simply did a good job of limiting the explosive second-year running back throughout the game, and Minnesota will look to do the same in Week 17. Cohen had 50 total yards and a fumble lost in his first matchup with the Vikings this season.

Matthew Stafford, Lions drop to 5-10 with 27-9 loss to Minnesota.

Stafford was 18/32 for 116 yards, zero touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Detroit was able to get a 9-0 lead at home with three field goals to start the game, so it would have been interesting to see how things would have played out if they could have a) converted in Minnesota territory, and b) not allow a Hail Mary to end the first half. Stafford, who has averaged just 141.7 yards per game over the past three weeks, won’t be a recommended fantasy option next Sunday against the Packers.

Aldrick Robinson held without a catch in Week 16 win.

Robinson was targeted twice, working as the clear No. 3 wideout with Laquon Treadwell inactive. The veteran isn’t a recommended fantasy play in the season finale against Chicago.

Stefon Diggs catches eight-yard score in win over the Lions.

Diggs also had another two-yard catch, finishing with just two grabs for ten yards. Fantasy owners should take the touchdown, though, and Diggs will hope for at least 26 yards next week against the Bears to reach 1,000 receiving yards for the first time in his career. Chicago allowed the 25-year-old to post a 13/136/1 line in November, but the defense will probably be more stout in the rematch. Consider Diggs a high-end WR2.

Rob Gronkowski did not catch a pass against the Bills.

Gronk was targeted in the Patriots’ Week 16 win, but he did not catch a pass in a low-volume passing attack for the Patriots. On one of Gronk’s targets, he had it go off his hands for an interception. And the All-Pro noticeably wasn’t in on a good number of plays for the Pats. Gronk just clearly hasn’t been 100% this season despite the major flashes he’s shown a few games, so it’s difficult to consider him as strong of an option in fantasy lineups as guys like Travis Kelce and Zach Ertz. Gronk did score in his first matchup against his next opponent, the Jets, giving a little more hope to fantasy owners using him in championship matchups.

Kyle Rudolph breaks out with 9/122/2 line in Week 16 win.

Rudolph, who hadn’t scored since September, caught a Hail Mary pass at the end of the first half from 44 yards away, and later found the end zone again on a four-yard touchdown reception. Unfortunately, not many people were using Rudolph at this point, but those who took the gamble in the fantasy championship were handsomely rewarded. The veteran will look to help the Vikings into the postseason next week when the Bears come to town, but he’s probably still just a TE2.
