Fantasy News

Keenan Allen | Bears WR

Keenan Allen’s injury is a hip pointer, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

This is probably good news, as there is not structural damage to Allen. Hip pointers can be very painful, but the injury isn’t likely to force Allen to miss much more time. He should be considered questionable for next Saturday night against the Ravens, and we expect he should be good to go for the Chargers in the postseason. Fantasy owners would love to have him in championship weeks, though.

Travis Benjamin | Free Agent WR

Travis Benjamin catches one pass in Week 14 win.

It went for 11 yards. Benjamin probably needs a deep ball to be worth starting down the stretch, so fantasy owners are better off looking elsewhere.

Matt Breida | Free Agent RB

Matt Breida (ankle) is questionable for Week 15.

Breida missed last week’s game, but he is about as tough as they come, and he might try to give it a go against the Seahawks. If so, Jeff Wilson would obviously be downgraded from low-end RB2/FLEX status, but it’s worth noting that Breida would be at risk of an in-game setback, making him a risky play for the fantasy semifinals.

Tyrell Williams | Free Agent WR

Tyrell Williams caught three passes for 14 yards in Sunday’s win over the Bengals.

Williams brought in all three of his looks, but it was a low-upside day for the Chargers offense. Look for Williams to get going on Thursday night against the Chiefs, but Keenan Allen (clearly) and Mike Williams are probably better options down the stretch.

Doug Baldwin | Free Agent WR

Doug Baldwin (hip) is questionable for Sunday’s game against the 49ers.

Baldwin missed last week and saw Seattle’s passing attack struggle, so his hopeful return would be a boost to Russell Wilson as a low-end QB1. That said, Baldwin is a shaky FLEX option at less than 100% if he plays, and there are probably more reliable wideouts to consider for the fantasy semifinals.

Derek Carr | Retired QB

Derek Carr stays hot in Raiders’ Week 14 win.

After coming off a three-touchdown game last week against the Chiefs, Carr was 25/34 for 322 yards and two touchdowns along with a fumble lost against the Steelers. Both scores were to tight ends (Darek Carrier and Lee Smith) for six yards and three yards, and they both came in the fourth quarter with the game on the line. Also late in the win, Carr delivered an absolute dime to Seth Roberts down the field for 39 yards. This makes it eight straight games without an interception, extending his own career-best streak. And the fumble lost against the Steelers was very questionable call, as it looked like it could have easily been considered a pass with his arm moving forward. Anyway, Carr gets a good matchup next week against the Bengals, and he’s in starting consideration for the second week of the fantasy playoffs for two-QB leagues.

Rashaad Penny | Retired RB

Rashaad Penny (knee) has been ruled out for Week 15.

Penny’s knee swelled up after Monday night’s win over the Vikings, so it will be Chris Carson and Mike Davis handling the work for Seattle. Hopefully the rookie can get healthy for next week against the Chiefs or at least the playoffs, but for now, Carson is an even stronger RB2 and Davis is on the FLEX radar.
