Join now >The Browns are acquiring Amari Cooper from the Cowboys.
Cleveland was rumored to be interested in Cooper, and they’ll send over a fifth-round pick to Dallas in addition to swapping sixth-round picks—which is decent compensation for the Cowboys considering they were set to release him. This move locks in a No. 1 wideout for the Browns to pair with Nick Chubb at running back and David Njoku at tight end, while also likely eliminating the chances of the team spending the No. 13 overall pick on a wideout. It will be interesting to see what impact this trade has on the status of Jarvis Landry, but Cooper should remain a volatile WR2 in 2022.

The Giants waived Kaden Smith with a failed physical designation.
Kaden Smith was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury last December, and he’s apparently not healthy at the moment, so the Giants are moving on. Hopefully the former fourth-round pick can get to 100% soon.

The Bears claimed Darrynton Evans.
Chicago release Tarik Cohen today, but they are adding depth at running back in Evans, who was just waived by the Titans. The 2020 third-round pick is someone to keep an eye on under the new regime in Chicago.

Deshaun Watson is not facing criminal charges for sexual assault allegations.
Watson can and likely will still face civil litigation for his alleged actions, but this was the major step towards a return to the field, and now we might see teams be willing to strike a deal with Houston for the disgruntled quarterback. Especially with the start of the new league year next week, it wouldn’t be a surprise if a trade happens within the next few days to allow everyone to know where they stand at quarterback ahead of free agency. There is also a chance that Watson’s off-field issues are enough to keep franchises from taking a chance on him—especially considering the capital Houston likely wants for him—but those who have held onto him in dynasty leagues can certainly feel a lot better about his potential value in 2022 and beyond.

The Cowboys have waived Blake Jarwin with an injury designation.
Jarwin recently underwent hip surgery that puts his 2022 season in jeopardy, and the team is moving on from him after recently placing the franchise tag on top option Dalton Schultz. Turning 28 in the summer, Jarwin could end up waiting until he’s back to full health before signing elsewhere.

The Texans are re-signing Jeff Driskel.
Driskel switched to tight end last year, but he’s going back to quarterback while remaining with the Texans. The athletic and versatile player will look to win a role as a backup quarterback option for Houston in 2022.

The Jaguars are releasing Carlos Hyde.
Hyde was signed for two years, $4.5 million under Urban Meyer, but the team is moving on with limited cap implications to get out of the deal. Turning 32 in September, Hyde could have a difficult time earning a secure roster spot considering the amount of rookie runners set to enter the league from the 2022 class. For the Jaguars, they’ll rely on James Robinson and Travis Etienne—a duo with the potential to be the best in the league.
