Join now >Austin Ekeler (hamstring) officially did not practice today.
It’s time to be very concerned about Ekeler’s status for Week 1, but we’ll see if he can get on the practice field tomorrow. For now, if you’re between Ekeler and someone like Antonio Brown from tonight’s game, it might be wise to consider Ekeler on the doubtful side of things as of this evening.

The Ravens are signing Devonta Freeman to the practice squad.
This move comes after Gus Edwards suffered a likely season-ending injury at practice, and the expectation is that Freeman will be added to the active roster. Look for Baltimore to go with a committee until they find a combination that works for their rushing attack, but Ty’Son Williams and Le’Veon Bell are the clear favorites for touches.

Gus Edwards suffered a potentially significant knee injury at practice, according to NFL Network.
Edwards and cornerback Marcus Peters were reportedly injured on back-to-back plays, and the team then stopped practice—leaving players “stunned.” This would be the third major injury to Baltimore’s running back room (J.K. Dobbins and Justice Hill are already done for the season), and fantasy owners need to rush to the waiver wire if Ty’Son Williams or Le’Veon Bell are still available. According to ESPN, the fear is a torn ACL, but it might be worth waiting to see if the injury is confirmed before dropping the bruising runner in redraft leagues.

Evan Engram (calf) did not practice today.
Engram’s status is much more cloudy than either Saquon Barkley (knee) or Kenny Golladay (hamstring), and it’s looking like he will be out for at least the opener at this point. If so, Kyle Rudolph and Kaden Smith will both be touchdown-dependent options against the Broncos.

Austin Ekeler officially dealing with hamstring issue.
Ekeler officially did not practice today after reporters spotted him working off to the side during practice. Of course, a hamstring injury is what forced him to a huge chunk of last season, so this is pretty notable ahead of Week 1. It’s only Wednesday and the first official practice of the week, so hopefully Ekeler is just feeling some slight discomfort and is taking things slow. Ideally, he’ll get up to a limited practice participation for tomorrow.
9/8/21 - 07:19 PM ET
Chris Godwin is not listed on the Week 1 injury report.
Breathe easy, Godwin was listed as a full practice participant today and is ready to go for the season opener tomorrow against the Cowboys. The Bucs were probably just taking things easy with Godwin (quad) during yesterday’s practice in which a few veterans got rest days. You can lock Godwin in as a strong WR1 for Week 1.

Curtis Samuel tweaked his groin.
He did this during warmups today at practice and was officially listed as a non-participant. The thought was that Washington and Samuel took things extremely slow with an eye toward Week 1, but it’s difficult to be optimistic about the dynamic receiver’s status for Sunday’s opener at this point. Perhaps Samuel sitting out practice was just a precaution for what’s been a cautious approach, but this is getting close to being an “out indefinitely” situation.
