Rodgers said after last Sunday’s win against the Bears that he’d be out here this week for a matchup with the Vikings, and he is indeed ready to go. Rodgers is certainly at less than 100% and might not be able to move around as a scrambler close to as well as usual, but he’s just too good to leave out out of most fantasy lineups. Expect the Vikings to come after him, though.

Rex Burkhead (concussion) is expected to play today, according to Adam Schefter.
We won’t know Burkhead’s status for certain until the actives and inactives are released later today, but it sounds like he’ll be out there against the Jaguars. First-round rookie running back Sony Michel is also expected to be active, but Burkhead is likely to be the leading ball-carrier for Week 2. Assuming he’s active, Burkhead is a FLEX option against Jacksonville.

Sony Michel (knee) is expected to make his NFL debut today, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Michel missed most of the summer after a procedure on his knee in early August, and he missed Week 1’s win against the Texans. The first-round rookie running back has been limited in practice since the start of the regular season, but the Patriots feel good enough about him that they’re apparently making him active for a big Week 2 matchup against the Jaguars. Michel is difficult to trust in his first game after missing so much time, but he has a lot of season-long upside and is a strong roster hold.

The Browns are releasing wide receiver Josh Gordon on Monday.
Earlier today, the Browns ruled Gordon out for tomorrow’s game against the Saints because of a hamstring injury after Gordon reportedly came into the team facility and said his hamstring was bothering him. The statement from GM John Dorsey released by the Browns reads: “This afternoon we informed Josh Gordon and his representatives that we are going to release him on Monday. For the past six years, the Browns have fully supported and invested in Josh, both personally and professionally and wanted the best for him, but unfortunately we’ve reached a point where we feel it’s best to part ways and move forward. We wish Josh well.” It’s unclear why exactly Cleveland released him at this point, but a supremely talented receiver will now become available in a few days, and he should draw a ton of interest despite his off-field history. This move could mean the Browns could soon sign Dez Bryant, who they’ve been linked to for the past few weeks. Gordon wasn’t really on the field for the Browns after he was taken with a second-round pick in the 2012 Supplemental Draft, but he had a monster 2013 season with a league-leading 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns while being named First Team All-Pro. You should obviously hold Gordon on your fantasy team for now and just hope he lands in a good situation with another team.

UPDATE: Devonta Freeman could miss three-to-four weeks.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter had said it would be a two-to-three week injury for Freeman, but now he’s saying another source is giving this longer timeframe. Either way, Freeman is set to miss at least a couple games with this knee issue. Consider him week-to-week at this point, with Tevin Coleman likely to be a 20-touch player in his absence.

Devonta Freeman is expected to miss two-to-three weeks, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Freeman has already been ruled out for tomorrow’s game against the Panthers, and it’s not surprising that he’s expected to miss at least one more game after that. Schefter says it’s a knee contusion for Freeman, which, if true, certainly isn’t bad as it could be. Tevin Coleman is likely to get around 20 touches per game as long as Freeman is out, and he’ll be a great RB1 for as long as that is. Coleman’s Week 2 matchup against the Panthers is tough, though. The Falcons face the Saints, Bengals, and Steelers in the next three matchups after tomorrow.

The Patriots signed Riley McCarron to their practice squad.
McCarron was on the roster and played in Week 1, but he was then released earlier this week; but now he’s back on the practice squad. McCarron will look to work his way back to the 53-man roster at some point this season.
