Giovani Bernard is dealing with a high-ankle sprain.

It’s a “mild” high-ankle sprain for Bernard and he’s expected to be back for the season opener, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. But with the season opener just one week from tonight, the veteran running back is probably at risk of missing Week 1. Bernard is set to have a huge role in third downs and passing situations for the Bucs, so Ronald Jones and Leonard Fournette would likely be in for more work if Bernard was to miss time.

Carson Wentz has been activated off the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Thankfully, Wentz was just a close contact and did not test positive for the virus, and he’s back about as soon as possible after being placed on the list a few days ago. There’s some concern with the lack of practice time for Wentz this summer, but he’ll probably get back into the swing of things over the next week-plus and be under center for the Colts to open the season.

The Bills signed Kahale Warring to the practice squad.

Warring is in a great spot to develop and potentially get a shot on the 53-man roster, as Buffalo’s high-powered offense doesn’t seem to be set at tight end. Still, look for Brian Daboll’s offense to run heavily through the wideouts once against this season.

The Ravens have signed Eric Tomlinson.

Tomlinson will settle in as depth behind Mark Andrews, and the tight ends could be more of a factor early in the year considering the injuries for Baltimore at wide receiver.

Rashod Bateman has been placed on injured reserve.

Bateman will miss the first three games of the season, which means he won’t return in September. That said, IR is better than the PUP list, and Baltimore’s first-round pick is still worth late-round consideration as a stash in redraft leagues.

The Patriots are signing Garrett Gilbert to the practice squad.

Gilbert will join Brian Hoyer (also on the practice squad right now) and Jarrett Stidham (currently on the PUP list) behind Mac Jones. He might be highlighted heading to a new home on the final episode of ‘Hard Knocks’ next Tuesday night.

The Giants placed John Ross on injured reserve.

Ross is now out for the first three games of the season. At least it’s a good sign for the Giants that Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney weren’t also placed on IR. Ross should go undrafted in almost all redraft fantasy leagues.
