Join now >O.J. Howard catches two passes in season opener.
Howard gained 54 yards on his two receptions from Ryan Fitzpatrick, with his receptions going for 35 yards and 19 yards. The extremely talented second-year tight end is the preferred fantasy option over teammate Cameron Brate (zero catches) despite Brate receiving a huge contract this offense.

Mike Evans explodes in Week 1 victory.
After struggling against Saints cornerback Marcus Lattimore during Lattimore’s rookie season last year, Evans had one of the best games of his career against the second-year cornerback and the Saints in this one, catching seven passes for 147 yards and a touchdown. The score came on a 50-yard deep ball from Ryan Fitzpatrick, and it looked like Lattimore slipped in coverage. Evans has another tough matchup on paper in Week 2 when the Bucs face the Eagles, but he should draw plenty of targets from Fitzpatrick.

Jacquizz Rodgers gets three touches in Bucs’ win.
Rodgers had two carries for one yard and one reception for two yards against the Saints. Peyton Barber (19 carries for 69 yards) worked as the clear lead ball-carrier for Tampa Bay, so Rodgers is not a recommended fantasy option outside of very deep PPR leagues.

Shaun Wilson gets one carry in NFL debut.
The undrafted rookie running back from Duke was active over second-round pick Ronald Jones. Wilson received one carry for six yards in the game. He doesn’t carry fantasy upside at the moment, but good for the undrafted rookie working himself into an immediate role on a 46-man roster on game days.

Peyton Barber gets 19 carries to open the season.
Second-round rookie Ronald Jones was a healthy scratch, and Barber was the clear leader in Tampa Bay’s backfield against New Orleans. Barber gained 69 yards on his 19 attempts, including a long of 23 yards. He wasn’t able to cash-in on a touchdown despite 48 points from the Buccaneers, but the scores should come. Barber will remain a solid fantasy option as long as he’s the clear top option in the backfield.

Ryan Fitzpatrick lights up the Saints in Week 1 win.
The veteran quarterback could not have had a much better start to open the season, as he threw the ball around the yard while leading the Bucs to 48 points in the Superdome. Fitzpatrick was 21/28 for 417 yards and four touchdowns while also adding 12 carries for 36 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown—along with a game-sealing run on a third down late in the fourth quarter. Not many people had Fitzpatrick in their fantasy lineup, but those that did ended up with 41 standard fantasy points from their quarterback spot to start the year. Next week against Philadelphia is a tougher matchup, so we don’t recommend picking up Fitz and placing him in fantasy lineups. He does offer upside, though.

Aaron Rodgers is apparently returning to tonight’s game.
After it looked like Rodgers suffered a season-ending injury, he’s now being called questionable to return and it warming up to potentially re-enter the game. Rodgers appears to be in good spirits on the sideline and doesn’t appear to have too much of a limp, so we expect we’ll see him back out there when the Packers get on offense in the second half. Keep in mind, Rodgers could still be dealing with a very serious injury that he’s trying to play through anyway.
