Join now >The Patriots signed Riley McCarron from the practice squad.
McCarron just missed the 53-man roster after spending the preseason with New England, but he then signed with the practice squad and is now being elevated to the roster ahead of Week 1. McCarron is not a recommended fantasy option to open the year, but he could potentially make an impact if he gets enough playing time as one of Tom Brady’s targets.

Rashaad Penny (finger) was a full participant in practice.
The first-round rookie running back is ready to go for this Sunday’s matchup against Denver. Chris Carson is firmly intrenched as the team’s starter to open the season, but Penny was drafted by Seattle with high expectations, so he’s a good bet to have a decent role in Week 1. Carson is the preferred fantasy option for now, though.

Will Fuller (hamstring) was a limited participant in practice today.
Fuller is expected to play this week against New England, but we’d like to see him get a full practice in tomorrow. Either way, it might be best to knock the speedster down in the rankings a bit with so many other options for Week 1.

The Redskins placed Byron Marshall on injured reserve.
Marshall is dealing with the ankle injury suffered in the preseason, and the Redskins went ahead and placed him on IR, freeing up a roster spot. It’s possible Marshall returns after eight weeks, but he’s way off the fantasy radar for now.

George Kittle (shoulder) is “all systems go” for Week 1.
Kittle basically missed the entire summer after suffering the shoulder injury in the first week of the preseason, but as promised, he’s ready to go for Week 1. The second-year tight end has obvious TE1 upside this season as one of Jimmy Garoppolo’s primary targets.

Maurice Harris (concussion) did not practice for the Redskins today.
Harris remains in concussion protocol from last month, and he also had a concussion toward the end of last season, so this isn’t great news. Hopefully Harris is feeling better soon, but his Week 1 status seems doubtful.

Marlon Mack (hamstring) did not practice today.
The team says Mack is considered “day-to-day,” but not practicing to start the week isn’t a great sign for his Week 1 status. Most Colts reporters believe Mack will miss the opener with rookie Jordan Wilkins drawing the start. We’ll update you on Mack’s Thursday practice status tomorrow.
