Join now >Elijah Mcguire (foot) will not play in Week 1.
McGuire had surgery less than a month ago and was expected to be out 3-6 weeks, so this isn’t a surprise. The second-year back is off the fantasy radar for now, as he’s missed a lot of time and the Jets have a deep running back group. He has a lot of upside as a player and remains a strong hold in dynasty leagues, though.

The Patriots have released wide receiver Paul Turner.
Turner was a long shot to make the roster with a bunch of other options ahead of him, and he didn’t catch a pass this preseason. The 25-year-old has flashed enough over the past couple summers to get another shot somewhere.

Quincy Enunwa is going to play in the Jets’ third preseason game.
The Jets face the Giants tomorrow night in MetLife Stadium, and it’ll be Enunwa’s first game action since the 2016 season after he missed all of last season with a disc issue in his neck. It’ll be great to see Enunwa, who says he feels great, back on the field at 100% after going through the unfortunate neck issue, and it’ll be interesting to see his playing time within the Jets receiving corps. Robby Anderson, Jermaine Kearse, and Enunwa are likely to be the top three receivers for the Jets this season, but there’s been talk of getting Enunwa involved a variety of ways.

Josh Allen (head) has been cleared to return to today’s game.
Allen looked fine after taking a big hit late in the second half, and he indeed is OK and can return to the game. He might be done anyway, but we’ll see if he gets more time. Hopefully the offensive line protects their rookie quarterback if he does hit the field again today.

Falcons special teams coordinator Keith Armstrong says Calvin Ridley is a “natural returner.”
Armstrong spoke to the media today, saying that the rookie receiver has good “vision” and “feel” as a returner and makes good decisions back there. Ridley has gotten work as a returner throughout the preseason, and he’s looked good, which isn’t a surprise. The first-round pick from Alabama has uncommon acceleration that allows him to instantly change gears while running, which helps him as a returner like it does on his route running and tracking of the deep ball. Ridley isn’t locked in to the primary return job yet, but it’s something for fantasy owner to keep in mind—particularly those in leagues that give bonuses for return yardage.

Alshon Jeffery (shoulder) has passed his physical and is off the PUP list.
This was the expectation, and Doug Peterson indicated as much last night. This means Jeffery won’t miss the first six games of the season, though fantasy owners should probably still brace for him to miss at least the first couple weeks. In the meantime, Nelson Agholor, Zach Ertz, and Dallas Goedert should be the main beneficiaries from Alshon’s probable absence. Jeffery is going as a borderline top-30 wideout in fantasy drafts.

Andy Reid says Sammy Watkins is “still working through the offense.”
Reid was asked about Watkins seemingly not having the connection with Patrick Mahomes that Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill do, and Reid said it will come with time and that they are throwing a lot at Watkins, who will be moved around the offense. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes also talked about Watkins playing so many different positions, which makes things more difficult on the receiver but should pay off and open up the offense for everyone. Mahomes also said they are working on their connection on the practice field, adding “when you have that much talent you’re going to be open so hopefully I can get the ball to him, he’s going to be open a lot.” Some have become concerned about Watkins’ lack of receptions through two preseason games, but the Chiefs didn’t pay him not to have a big role in 2018.
