Gruden is an optimistic person, but he’s not going to throw around praise like this for his quarterback if it wasn’t true. According to the Las Vegas Journal Review, Gruden says he thinks Carr is one of the best quarterbacks in the league at processing information: “He has a photographic memory. It comes so easy to him. He’s got the offense mastered more than I do, that’s for sure.” It’s great to hear that Carr has put the work in and seems to have already become that CEO-type of quarterback Gruden wanted as an extension of himself on the field. Now fully healthy after coming off a broken leg and then a fractured back during the season, Carr has obvious QB1 upside with one of the best coaches in the league coaching him.

Bryon Marshall is being evaluated for a lower leg injury.
Marshall’s night is probably done after two carries and one yard, but hopefully this injury isn’t too serious. The Redskins should provide an update tonight or tomorrow.

Update: Nick Foles’ injury is being called a shoulder strain.
Foles still has his shoulder pads on and is on the sideline, which is a very positive sign considering he didn’t go into the locker room for further testing. Despite being called questionable, the Super Bowl LII MVP is not going to return to tonight’s game, but he’s likely to start next week’s third preseason game against the Browns.

Samaje Perine is being evaluated for an ankle sprain.
With Derrius Guice out for the year with a torn ACL, Rob Kelley started the game for Washington with Perine working behind him. Perine dealt with an ankle issue last season, and this isn’t ideal as he looks to compete for the starting job for the Redskins. The second-year back’s night might be done.

Nick Foles leaves preseason game with apparent right arm injury.
Foles was attempting to take a deep shot in the second quarter against the Patriots, but he had his arm hit as he was trying to throw, and it turned into a fumble that was returned for a touchdown. Foles immediately grabbed around his shoulder/bicep area and was in obvious pain, and he went into the medical tent to be evaluated. Hopefully the injury isn’t too serious, but we’ll keep you updated when more information becomes available.

Ben Roethlisberger did not suffer a concussion in practice earlier this week, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Reports said Roethlisberger was in concussion protocol and had since been cleared, but apparently he didn’t suffer a concussion after all. This is good news for Roethlisberger, who is not playing in tonight’s preseason game against the Packers. Roethlisberger will get time in next week’s dress rehearsal game as he gears up for his 15th NFL season.

Bobb Wagner says Chris Carson “stands out” at running back for the Seahawks.
Wagner was on The Rich Eisen Show, and he said “there’s a difference when Chris Carson runs the ball… he looks really, really strong and he looks like he’s on a mission.” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport says the team envisions the second-year back as their “bellcow.” Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll has previously said on multiple occasions how great of shape Carson is in, and the 2017 seventh-round pick ran with the starters in last week’s preseason game. Now that Rashaad Penny is out for the rest of the summer with a broken finger, Carson is the heavy favorite to open the season as the clear top early-down runner. Even coming off a broken leg, Carson has looked impressive enough that he should be a very strong starting option in all fantasy leagues for Week 1.
