Join now >Malcolm Mitchell is on the trading block, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
The Patriots presumably do not feel they can rely on Mitchell, who missed all of last season while dealing with knee issues, despite his production as a rookie for a Super Bowl team in 2016. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport again noted, which he did when the signing first happened during the offseason, that the Patriots are high on veteran Kenny Britt’s potential in the offense. If no trade partner is found, then Mitchell has the talent to carve out a role in the offense despite this report emerging. But for now, it appears Mitchell could be on his way out of New England. This report could also be a message to Mitchell that he needs to be healthy if he wants to stay on a team that allows him to catch passes from Tom Brady.

Odell Beckham Jr. is reporting to Giants training camp on time on Wednesday, according to NFL Network’s Kimberly Jones.
Beckham said last month that he was going to training camp, so nothing has changed. Jones says a source close to Beckham says, “He just wants to play football, he just wants to win.” Again, after things looked shaky earlier this offseason, including the Giants perhaps astutely playing hardball, things have been extremely positive the last several weeks. A huge contract extension is certainly possible, but it sounds like OBJ is going to be on the field one way or another this summer, so he’ll be ready to roll come September. Beckham obviously offers a ton of upside in fantasy drafts.

Spencer Ware is participating in Chiefs training camp.
After a knee injury suffered last preseason forced Ware to miss the entire 2017 season, he’s back and basically at full strength for the start of training camp. Chiefs head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder says Ware “looked great, bringing him along slowly,” so the team is likely being cautious with the season still about a month-and-a-half away. Kansas City has a talented group of running backs, but Ware figures to be the primary backup behind Kareem Hunt if he’s 100%. Remember, Ware played very well and totaled nearly 1,400 yards in 2016. His presence shouldn’t affect Kareem Hunt’s fantasy value much, though.

Browns release statement on wide receiver Josh Gordon.
With Gordon surprisingly announcing that he would not be reporting to training camp as part of his “overall health and treatment plan,” Browns GM John Dorsey released a statement reading: “We will continue to support Josh as he receives the care needed to maintain his progress. We are going to respect his privacy while he is away from the team. Josh will be placed on the non-football illness reserve list until he is ready to return.” It’s on Gordon when he’s going to return, so now it’s just a waiting game for the Browns and fantasy owners.

David Johnson has reported to the Cardinals for training camp.
Most Arizona players won’t report until July 27, but Johnson has reported today as an injured player from last season. DJ posted a short video on Twitter of him in the locker room with his helmet on with the caption: “In Gods hands now… primed and ready to prove it! #ImBack” After a brief holdout during the offseason, it’s good to see Johnson is back with the team and apparently does not intend to hold out. A contract extension for Johnson, who is entering the final year of his rookie deal, could be coming soon even with GM Steve Keim suspended. Either way, it’s a major positive for both the Cardinals and fantasy teams that Johnson is going to be with his team throughout the summer after basically missing all of last season. Johnson is in the discussion for the top pick in all fantasy drafts.

Josh Gordon says he will not be at the start of Browns training camp.
Gordon posted a message to Twitter reading in part: “To my Cleveland Browns and NFL family, I am reaching out to you all personally and letting you know that I am not only doing great physically but mentally as well. You will notice that I will not be in Cleveland for the start of training camp. Rest assured this too is a part of my overall health and treatment plan. I appreciate the awesome support I have received from teammates, friends, fans, and the Brown’s organization. Just like you, I am excited to start the season and I have every intention of being ready and available to join my teammates soon to help bring winning football to our fans… By continuing to follow the plan set up by our medical director and his team and taking this time before this season starts, we believe it will help me maintain the progress I’ve made for not only today but for many years to come.” It sounds like this might have been something that’s been planned, but the fact that he says he has “every intention” of being ready indicates this could drag into the regular season. This is immediately a huge storyline to watch for both real-life and fantasy purposes, as an All-Pro receiver’s status is not 100% certain and might not be for some time. We’ll see if the Browns give an update on Gordon soon.

Michael Campanaro is starting training camp on the NFI list.
The NFI list is the non-football injury list, so Campanaro is dealing with something that happened off the football field, or he might have failed his conditioning test. Either way, expect him to be taken off the NFI list soon. Campanaro isn’t expected to be a big fantasy factor in 2018.
