Join now >Leonte Carroo is expected to have “minor knee surgery to clean up some issues,” according to Armando Salguero.
The third-year receiver will not be able to participate in minicamp next week, but Salguero says he’s expected to be ready for the start of training camp this summer. After the additions of Danny Amendola and Albert Wilson this offseason, Carroo is in an uphill battle for a big role in Miami’s offense; but he’s an explosive player that is likely to contribute to the team in some capacity in 2018.

Christian Kirk had his property damage charges dismissed.
Kirk and some friends were accused of throwing rocks at cars at the Phoenix Open golf tournament in early February, but the charges were dismissed. The situation wasn’t expected to be a factor in the rookie’s status this season, but nonetheless it’s good for it to be fully behind him now. Kirk is expected to immediately have a big role for Arizona in 2018.

Kareem Hunt says he’s “running a lot more routes” this year.
The second-year back, who led the NFL in rushing last season, says he’s been working on his entire game and was happy to have a normal offseason instead of having to go through interviews and all the rookie stuff last year. Hunt says he’s “catching the ball more and running a lot more routes” after catching 53 passes for 455 yards in 2017. New Chiefs starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes II might want to air it out to Tyreek Hill, Sammy Watkins, Travis Kelce, and his other targets, but Hunt would obviously do well to exceed the very good receiving numbers he put up last season.

Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn says wide receiver Artavis Scott has a shot at making the team this season.
Scott went undrafted last year, but he left school as Clemson’s all-time leading receiver (2,480 yards). Lynn says Scott is “looking good” this spring and noted how he did a good job on special teams last year—which will help as he attempts to make the final roster for the Chargers. Lynn went on to say that Scott is “making plays” and is “going to have a chance to make the roster.” Scott spent last season on the practice squad for the Chargers after leaving Clemson with a year of eligibility left in 2017. He’s an all-around receiver that’s worth keeping in mind for very deep dynasty leagues, but the Chargers have a crowded receiver corps so he’ll likely struggle to make a big fantasy impact in 2018.

Sterling Shepard has lined up on the outside “often” this spring.
For much of Shepard’s first two seasons in the NFL, he’s played a lot in the slot; but things could be changing in new head coach Pat Shurmur’s offense. Shepard says that in Shurmur’s offense “you kind of have to learn every single piece, because you can be moved around. Then when we’re going fast, you can pretty much line up anywhere…you have to be able to run routes from the inside and outside.” Shurmur is one of the best offensive coaches in football, and he’ll put all his skill players in a position to make plays. Playing more outside could potentially lead to some bigger plays for Shepard this season. Shepard isn’t going to come off the field often for the Giants, and he could be one of the better selections in the double-digit rounds of fantasy drafts this summer.

The Raiders might have a committee backfield this season.
On a conference call with season ticket holders last week, head coach Jon Gruden raved about Doug Martin, who was added in free agency this offseason: “A lot of people may have fallen asleep on Doug Martin. He’s a two-time All-Pro back, he had almost 1,500 yards in two different seasons. He has not looked good here, he has looked great.” Gruden went on to say that it takes “three or four backs to be a great offensive team,” pointing to what the Eagles did last season with Jay Ajayi, LeGarrette Blount, Corey Clement, and Darren Sproles (until the injury). It certainly sounds like Martin is going to have a sizable role in the potential committee, with Marshawn Lynch looking unlikely to be a big-time workhorse back. The Raiders running back situation will be interesting to watch throughout the summer.

Brandon Marshall is signing with the Seattle Seahawks.
The veteran receiver announced the news on his Instagram account, and it’s reportedly a one-year deal. Marshall, now 34, is coming off a lost season with the Giants where he caught just 18 passes for 154 yards in five games before undergoing season-ending ankle surgery, but this is the perfect landing spot for a potential resurgence. If he’s focused, there’s a good chance he slides right in as a starter on an offense that needs a red-zone threat following Jimmy Graham’s departure. Marshall could prove to be one of the better value picks in the later rounds of fantasy drafts this summer, but we’ll have to see how he performs during training camp and the preseason first.
