Of course, a lot of players probably want was many touches as possible, but Clement might really get it after his high-impact rookie season with the Eagles. The 2017 undrafted rookie told Paul Domowitch of the Philadelphia Inquirer “there’s a lot of competition” in the backfield but that he “definitely” wants more touches and wants to be “more of a key contributor.” Clement also says he is has added more muscle to his legs, which has been an area of focus during his training this offseason. Clement obviously shouldn’t have been undrafted last year, but things have certainly worked out for him and the Eagles so far. Darren Sproles is returning to the backfield after a torn ACL ended his season last year, but with LeGarrette Blount gone, Clement could have a bigger role in 2018 and beyond.

Marcedes Lewis has signed with the Packers.
Lewis broke the news himself by posting a picture of him signing his contract with Green Bay on Instagram. After 12 seasons in Jacksonville to start his career, the 33-year-old veteran tight end joins a very good situation with Aaron Rodgers as his quarterback. Jimmy Graham is clearly going to be the top tight end option for the Packers, but Lewis is yet another big target for the team and is likely to have a solid role. With a bunch of young receivers behind Davante Adams and Randall Cobb, the Packers might use a lot of two-tight-end sets with Graham and Lewis in 2018.

Kerryon Johnson and LeGarrette Blount have been working as the top runners for the Lions through OTAs so far.
Tim Twentyman of the team’s official site writes: “There’s definitely no doubt that Kerryon Johnson and Blount are the top two guys running the ball. One or the other led every team session or 7-on-7 drill.” The Lions have said Abdullah still has a role, but it looks like his chances of being the team’s lead runner has passed. The former second-round pick could be a trade candidate at some point, and if not, there’s a chance he doesn’t make the final roster for Detroit. Blount and the rookie Johnson are expected to dominate carries for the Lions this season, with Theo Riddick working as the primary receiving back.

Saints head coach Sean Payton says the team has a “clear vision” of how to use Cameron Meredith.
Payton also says that Meredith is “way ahead of schedule” in his return from the devastating knee injury he suffered last preseason with the Bears. Meredith should be 100% well ahead of the regular season, and it sounds like he’ll have a big role as one of Drew Brees’ targets. In 2016, Meredith broke out with 66 receptions for 888 yards and four touchdowns; he’ll certainly have a good shot to hit or exceed those marks in his first season with the Saints.

Tavon Austin is listed as a running back for the Cowboys.
Austin still has a wide receiver number (No. 10), but Dallas is apparently classifying him as a running back. Last season with the Rams, Austin received a career-high 59 carries, and he averages 6.7 yards per carry on 184 attempts in his career. Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott said today that they plan to use Austin a lot of ways, and of course the Cowboys brought him in with a role in mind. With Dez Bryant and Jason Witten gone, don’t be surprised if Austin immediately becomes a huge part of Dallas’ offense in 2018. It’ll be interesting to see how he’s used throughout the preseason, but the electric former first-round pick might become one of the better late-round targets in fantasy drafts this summer.

Zay Jones underwent knee surgery and will miss the rest of offseason training.
The second-year receiver is out for the spring, which isn’t great as he was looking to develop chemistry with new quarterbacks Josh Allen and A.J. McCarron. Bills head coach Sean McDermott says the team isn’t concerned the injury will jeopardy Jones’ season “at this point,” but it does sound like he could miss a lot of time during the preseason. With a thin depth chart at receiver, Buffalo might be forced to look at free agent receivers. Jeremy Maclin and Dez Bryant are among those still looking for a team.

Patriots.com’s Andy Hart believes Mike Gillislee “could be in a battle for his roster life.”
After the Patriots added Jeremy Hill in free agency and Sony Michel in the first round of the draft, Gillislee clearly doesn’t have a roster spot locked up—even after the departure of Dion Lewis. However, Hart notes that Gillislee’s “first day of the new year in front of the media didn’t look great” and that he “drew the ire of veteran coach Ivan Fears.” There’s still a long way to go until the season, but Gillislee, who was a healthy scratch for most of the end of last season, apparently isn’t off to a great start as he battles for a roster spot in New England. The Patriots have Hill, Michel, Rex Burkhead, James White, Brandon Bolden all also in the backfield mix.
