Join now >Mark Ingram is attempting to get his suspension appealed.
Ingram’s management team put out a statement regarding the suspension that came to light yesterday: “At the end of the 2017 season, as a result of a NFL mandated random drug test, Mark Ingram tested positive for a substance that was not a performance enhancing substance, nor an illegal substance, but a substance in fact permissible with the proper use exemption with the NFL. He has vigorously challenged the test results through the arbitration process. The arbitrator’s Opinion is due on or before Wednesday, May 16. Upon having the opportunity to review the arbitrator’s opinion, we will explore what further options are needed.” It certainly sounds like Ingram is not going to take this suspension without doing everything he can to get it reversed, which could turn into a lengthy battle. The exact substance Ingram took is still unclear, but we’ll see how the arbitrator rules.

The Chiefs waived running back Akeem Hunt.
Hunt was waived after he failed his physical. He had an ankle injury that had him sent to injured reserve at the end of last season, so this probably has to do with that. Kansas City still has a very deep running back depth chart without Hunt, but perhaps they’d bring him back at some point if he doesn’t sign elsewhere.

The Chiefs waived wide receiver Nelson Spruce.
Spruce was signed by Kansas City earlier this offseason, but he’s been let go. The 25-year-old receiver will find another team to sign him, but he’s off the fantasy radar at the moment.

Mark Ingram has been suspended four games by the NFL.
Ingram violated the league’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs. The NFL offseason is typically good for at least one or more pretty big shocker per year, and this certainly qualifies as that. Ingram will now miss 25% of the regular season: vs. Tampa Bay, vs. Cleveland, @ Atlanta, and @ the Giants. Every game is big in the NFL, but the divisional matchup against the Falcons really stands out. Now, Alvin Kamara will start the season as a potential workhorse for New Orleans, and there’s a chance he doesn’t see his role decrease much when Ingram returns in Week 5. Kamara is going to shoot up draft boards and will likely be in conversation for the top overall pick in fantasy drafts this summer. Ingram will be eligible to return on October 8 against the Redskins.

Randall Telfer was claimed by the Colts, according to Ian Rapoport.
The former Browns tight end was initially being sent to Kansas City in a trade, but that trade fell apart for some reason last week and the Browns sent Telfer to waivers. Telfer now joins a crowded Colts tight end group that concludes Jack Doyle, Eric Ebron, and Erik Swoope. He’s not on the fantasy radar at the moment.

The Cardinals released quarterback Brandon Doughty.
Doughty was claimed by the Cardinals early last month after he was waived by the Dolphins. His roster spot was in jeopardy from the moment the team selected Josh Rosen in the first-round of hte draft. The 2016 seventh-round pick will get another opportunity at some point.

C.J. Anderson is signing with the Panthers, according to multiple reports.
ProFootballTalk was the first to report the news. Overall, Anderson might have played better in 2014 and 2015, but he had his first 1,000-yard season in 2017 and is still only 27 years old. After it looked like Christian McCaffrey could be in line for a monster workload this season because Carolina didn’t draft a running back, this dampens things a bit. However, McCaffrey is still a good bet to get most of the carries for the Panthers this season, and Anderson hitting the 198 carries Jonathan Stewart did last season with the Panthers might be a stretch. It’ll be a situation to watch during training camp and the preseason, but consider Anderson just a late-round fantasy option for now.
