Join now >The Cowboys placed tight end James Hanna on the reserved/retired list.
After six years in the NFL, which were all in Dallas with the Cowboys, Hanna is retiring. A 2016 knee injury plagued the end of Hanna’s career, and he ends up with 37 receptions for 374 yards and one touchdown in five seasons played. He primarily contributed as a blocker for the Cowboys, and this move frees up some cap space. If Hanna is completely done with the NFL and does not return to another team, we wish him luck in his post-playing career.

The Browns have selected Georgia running back Nick Chubb with the No. 35 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
Cleveland took offensive lineman Austin Corbett with the No. 33 pick to start the second round probably knowing that Chubb would likely be there at No. 35, as the Giants wouldn’t draft him after taking Saquon Barkley second overall yesterday. Chubb goes a few picks after his former Georgia teammate Sony Michel, who the Patriots took with the 31st pick during last night’s first round. During his college career, Chubb had a ton of production but also suffered a serious knee injury that put his career in doubt, so it’s great to see him bounce all the way back and get selected high in the NFL Draft. Chubb is a classic running back that can be handed the ball a ton in an offense that could be on the rise, but Carlos Hyde is also in the mix after he signed with the Browns during free agency; then there’s also Duke Johnson, who is used as more of a receiver out of the backfield. The dynasty outlook of Chubb is bright, but he might be in a committee as a rookie in 2018.

Corey Clement goes off in Eagles’ Super Bowl victory.
The South Jersey kid led the Eagles in receiving yards against the Patriots, catching four passes for 100 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown while also adding three carries for eight rushing yards. The score was on a deep shot to the end zone for 22 yards in which Nick Foles made a perfect throw into tight coverage, and it certainly did not look like Clement had control with two feet in bounds, but it was originally called a touchdown and the play stood. The undrafted rookie from Wisconsin showed up in a big way on the game’s biggest stage, and he showed all season that he should not have been undrafted. The Eagles must be thrilled to have him, and he’ll have a solid role with the team in 2018.

The Jaguars have selected Nebraska quarterback Tanner Lee with the 203rd pick (sixth round) of the 2018 NFL Draft.
Jacksonville acquired Cody Kessler from Cleveland already this offseason to backup Blake Bortles, but Lee could be a development quarterback for the franchise. The Nebraska gunslinger has a huge arm, but turnovers and accuracy are his biggest concerns entering the league. This probably means the Jags plan to carry three quarterbacks on the roster in 2018.

David Johnson envisions “30 touches maybe 40 touches in certain games.”
The Cardinals star was on SiriusXM NFL Radio and made the statement, while again saying he is very confident the offense can be “dominant.” When Bruce Arians was the head coach, he had no problem saying he wanted to give Johnson the ball at least 25 times every week, and it doesn’t sound like things will change with the new coaching staff. DJ is 100% recovered from his season-ending wrist injury from Week 1 last season, and he is clearly ready to do whatever is needed to help Arizona win games. He might somehow be relatively under-the-radar after basically missing the entire 2017 season, but Johnson is right up there in the discussion for the number one selection in fantasy drafts this summer. Given all the touches the very talented and hard-working back is expected to get, his upside is massive. Remember, Johnson had over 2,000 total yards and 20 touchdowns in his only full season as the starter in 2016.

The Ravens have selected Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson with the No. 32 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
We really like Jackson, but people might take this pick a bit too far when talking about the implications for the Ravens franchise. Baltimore traded back twice in the first round and then still didn’t select Jackson with the No. 25 pick, opting for tight end Hayden Hurst. But with Jackson still available at 32, the Ravens decided to trade No. 52, No. 125, and a 2019 second-round pick in exchange for No. 32 and No. 132 to get in a position to grab Jackson before the end of the first round. Joe Flacco is obviously the starter for 2018, but the Ravens might find ways to get Jackson on the field in certain packages or for some trick plays. Taking the 2016 Heisman Trophy winner at No. 32 does not guarantee that he’s the quarterback of the future, but he should have the opportunity to be that guy at some point. Baltimore has a nice setup with the recent signing of Robert Griffin III, and it’s possible Jackson does take over a revamped offense as early as the 2019 season. If he lives up to his potential, Jackson’s dynasty stock is sky-high.

Jerry Jones says he wants Dez Bryant to remain on the Cowboys.
Because of Bryant’s lack of big-time production over the last few seasons, there’s been a lot of talk in the media about Dallas potentially parting ways with him. But Jones talked to reporters at the NFL Combine today, and said as of now the “answer is yes” whether he wants his former Pro Bowl receiver on the team next year. However, the Cowboys owner declined to comment on contract details, but he did note the great relationship with Bryant allows them to have a comfortable conversation about it. Perhaps if Bryant is really stingy about his contract and doesn’t help Dallas lower his cap number for 2018, things may head the other direction; but right now, expect number 88 to be back with the Cowboys this season.
