Join now >The Seahawks released quarterback Trevone Boykin.
Boykin has been accused of domestic assault, so the Seahawks went ahead and cut him. The former TCU star has had trouble off the field dating back to his days with the Horned Frogs. Hopefully he can get it together, but Boykin is probably running out of opportunities in the NFL.

Rob Gronkowski remains in concussion protocol.
Gronkowski was on the practice field for a second straight day, but he still isn’t fully out of concussion protocol. The good news is he has about a week to get cleared before Super Bowl LII, and there is a lot of optimism about him getting cleared. The Patriots are traveling to Minneapolis tomorrow, so there won’t be a practice to give an indication of Gronkowski’s status. However, he could still get cleared tomorrow, and we’ll update you as more information becomes available.

David Johnson (wrist) is expected to get cleared for OTAs in May.
Johnson is getting close, but he’s not expected to be ready for Cardinals minicamp next month. However, it’s not a huge deal, and being ready for OTAs on May 15 would be great after Johnson basically missed the entire 2017 season with his wrist injury suffered in Week 1. Johnson recently posted a video of him running on the treadmill at a very fast speed and high intensity, and as Cardinals head coach Steve Wilks noted, DJ should have fresh leg after he basically had a year off. Like a few other talented running backs, Johnson obviously has overall RB1 upside in 2018.

Multiple reports: The Dolphins could be looking to trade Jarvis Landry.
Despite placing the franchise tag on Landry, many are speculating whether the receiver could be dealt to another team. Considering most of the reports throughout the season indicated the Dolphins weren’t going to be keeping Landry past the 2017 season and the fact that receiver is a strong position for the team, this isn’t a surprise. Also, Miami tagging Landry so quick could indicate they have done it with the intention of trading him to another team. However, all reports could be wrong and the Dolphins could just really want to keep Landry around, hence the quick tag. We’ll probably hear if Landry and the Dolphins are talking about a long-term contract or not, and we’d also probably hear if they are taking trade offers from other teams. For now, he’s not a lock to be in Miami next season.

Kyle Shanahan says Jerick McKinnon is the team’s starting running back.
After the 49ers gave McKinnon top-five running back money, this is not a surprise. Shanahan believes McKinnon can be used more than he was in Minnesota, and right now, it looks like he’s a lock for at least 15 touches per week in 2018. Considering the Niners appear to be on the rise with one of the league’s best young franchise quarterbacks, along with Shanahan’s commitment to the running game, McKinnon could be a superb fantasy asset this season. McKinnon’s ADP is likely to get up into the first four or five rounds by the time drafts roll around this summer.

Rob Gronkowski (concussion) participated in practice today.
The Patriots are not releasing an official practice report today, but Gronk is reportedly still in concussion protocol. Still, it’s good to see him at least out on the field in a limited capacity, and it should only be a matter of time before the All-Pro tight end is cleared for Super Bowl LII.

Dirk Koetter says Peyton Barber is the Bucs’ “starting running back right now.”
The Buccaneers head coach says he has “high” confidence in Barber, but noted that he has confidence in everyone on Tampa Bay’s roster. Koetter also said things could change and noted that this is a talented draft class. The former Auburn Tiger runs the ball hard and downhill with good size, and he is also a capable receiver out of the backfield. Barber will have very good upside if Tampa Bay doesn’t add another running back in next month’s draft, but it might be a good bet that they do add someone to the mix.
