Lynch spoke to Alex Flanagan during the Senior Bowl and made it clear that they want Jimmy G with the team long-term. There isn’t any question why they want him as their quarterback, and it would be a major surprise if something didn’t come together. Garoppolo would probably get offered the highest contract in NFL history if he was to hit free agency, to the Niners will probably franchise tag him if they can’t agree on a long-term deal. 49ers fans should not be concerned about losing Garoppolo.

The Colts re-signed running back Christine Michael.
With Frank Gore no longer with the Colts and a new coaching staff in place, perhaps Michael will have a chance to compete for a large role on offense now that he’s healthy. He spent all of offseason on injured reserve after going down during offseason training last year. The talented former second-round pick of the Seahawks will have to get past second-year back Marlon Mack for the starting job. Indy’s running back situation will be one to watch this summer.

Steelers GM Kevin Colbert told Le’Veon Bell they want him in Pittsburgh for the remainder of his career.
Colbert said the franchise tag is an option, but “our goal is to have something done on a long-term basis.” The bottom line from this is that Bell will not be playing anywhere else in 2018, as the Steelers are going to franchise him for a second straight year if they can’t agree to a long-term deal by March 6—the deadline to use the franchise tag for 2018. If the Steelers do franchise Bell again, they’ll have until July 16 to agree to a long-term deal before he would have to play the season on the tag. Something should get done, and it’s possible it happens in the next few weeks before they would have to franchise Bell.

The Lions are signing tight end Luke Willson.
According to multiple reports, it’s a one-year deal worth $2.5 million. Detroit cut former tight end Eric Ebron last week, and Willson will likely have the opportunity to compete with Michael Roberts for the starting tight end position. Willson had only 89 receptions in his five season with the Seahawks, but he did have 11 touchdowns on those 89 receptions and always seemed to make a play when his number was called. He’ll have some fantasy upside catching passes from Matthew Stafford if he wins the starting job.

Rob Gronkowski (concussion) is listed as a DNP today.
The Patriots did not practice today, but if they had, Gronkowski would not have been out there. The All-Pro tight end has under two weeks to get cleared for Super Bowl LII against the Eagles—which is certainly no lock, but we expect him to be out there in the Big Game.

Zay Jones was arrested for felony vandalism.
The very bizarre situation was uncovered by TMZ and is in the link below, but it includes the Bills receiver being nude and allegedly breaking a window and glass door in a downtown L.A. apartment. TMZ says witnesses claim Jones’ brother, Vikings receiver Cayleb Jones, was trying to stop Zay from jumping out of a window on the 30th floor. Zay Jones is now getting medical treatment in the L.A. County Jail, and it seems his mental health is clearly an issue at the moment. Obviously, this is not good, and hopefully Jones ends up being OK.

Larry Fitzgerald will play in 2018.
The all-time great receiver is returning for his 15th season, and a decision this early indicates he might not have been too conflicted about the decision. Despite the Cardinals not having a starting quarterback set in stone for next season, Fitzgerald is probably confident enough in new head coach Steve Wilks and the new coaching staff that he thinks the Cardinals have a chance to compete in the NFC in 2018. Fitz is currently 92 receptions and 390 yards behind Tony Gonzalez and Terrell Owens for second all-time in both categories, so he’ll be a good bet to reach both if he remains healthy this season. The fantasy value of Fitzgerald will be clearer when the starting quarterback is known in Arizona, but he should offer among the highest floors at receiver regardless of who is under center. It will be great for fans to be able to watch Fitzgerald play again this year in what could be his final season, and everyone should appreciate the future Hall of Famer before his career is over.
