Join now >Sammy Watkins plans to sign with the Chiefs, according to multiple reports.
Chiefs GM Brett Veach said the team wanted to get more speed to unleash the arm of new starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes II, and they sure are set to get just that in Watkins. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, it’s a three-year deal worth $48 million, which tops Allen Robinson’s expected deal in Chicago by $2 million per year. Like Robinson, Watkins will be only 27 when he hits free agency again, so he’ll look to play well and get another huge payday while still in his prime in a few years. While Tyreek Hill had nearly 1,200 receiving yards and seven touchdowns last season, it wouldn’t be surprising if Watkins emerged as the top wide receiver for the Chiefs this season. The Rams did want to keep Watkins on the team, but don’t expect them to swoop in and retain him on a similar deal to the one he’s expected to sign with Kansas City. It would be a surprise if Watkins wasn’t a Chief tomorrow.

Sam Bradford (knee) is expected to be active for the Vikings for the Divisional Round.
According to Ben Volin of the Boston Globe, the plan is for Minnesota to dress Bradford on Sunday against the Saints. Things have certainly changed since then, but remember: Bradford lit up the Saints in Week 1 while dropping dimes all over the field. If active, he’ll probably be ahead of Teddy Bridgewater as the backup to Case Keenum. Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer says no decision has been made, but they still have time to make the move (in which case they will have to release a player from the 53-man roster). Bradford would be a heck of a backup quarterback if the Vikings need him in the postseason.

The Lions tight end Eric Ebron is “a name to watch” for a potential trade, according to Adam Schefter.
Schefter says Ebron’s name came up in trade discussions during the NFL Combine and that the “Lions were listening.” Ebron gets a lot of flack from many fans, partly because he was drafted a couple picks before Odell Beckham Jr. in 2014, but he’s an athletic tight end that has had over 500 yards in each of the last three seasons. While he clearly hasn’t shown the consistency to live up to his draft slot yet, Ebron will turn only 25 next month, and teams are probably inquiring about him because they know his upside. It’s worth noting this Lions regime led by GM Bob Quinn and new head coach Matt Patricia did not draft Ebron.

Le’Veon Bell indicates he will not play in 2018 under the franchise tag.
Really, this is a situation that shouldn’t even be talked about right now, as the media should not have asked Bell this question ahead of his team’s biggest game of the season. But they did, and Bell answered truthfully instead of lying or ignoring the question, stating that he isn’t going to “settle for anything.” The All-Pro running back says he might sit out if he is franchise tagged, at which point he’d probably just retire if he doesn’t play in 2018. Later, Bell went to Twitter to clarify that he’s focused on helping the team win a Super Bowl and is not currently worried about what happens after this season. This is a non-concern heading into the playoffs.

Martavis Bryant scores long touchdown in Steelers’ playoff loss.
On a key fourth down late in the first half, Bryant caught a bomb touchdown after getting behind the defense and into the end zone. And his second reception came at the end of the game with the Steelers attempting to stage a comeback, and he had a catch-and-run to inside the ten-yard line. Overall, Bryant had two receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown. During the season, Bryant was unhappy with his role and indicated he would not return to the team next season, but his role did increase and he became more of a key member of the offense later in the year. It’ll be interesting to see what happens this offseason with the talented receiver.

Brice Butler says he wants to be a starter in 2018.
Butler is set to be a free agent this offseason, but he said on FOX Sports that he will only return to Dallas on one condition: that he be a starter next season. Butler said he’s not going back if he’s not starting, so this is basically in the Cowboys’ court now. This season, Butler seemingly made plays whenever he was given opportunities, so it’s difficult to blame him for wanting a starting role. He averaged 21.1 yards per reception and caught three touchdowns on 15 receptions, so teams are likely to be interested in bringing Butler in if he parts ways with the Cowboys. It’ll be interesting to see how teams value Butler in free agency.

Tom Brady, Patriots cruise to seventh-straight AFC Championship Game appearance with 35-14 win over Tennessee.
Brady was 35/53 for 337 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions. Unsurprisingly, the five-time Super Bowl champion was excellent in his first playoff game of the season, and he made plays both in and out of the structure of the play. Two of the scores came in the second quarter to James White from five yards away and then to Chris Hogan from four yards away, and then he hit Rob Gronkowski for a four-yard score in the final quarter. Brady will look for his eighth Super Bowl appearance against either the Steelers or Jaguars next Sunday. It will take a lot to knock off New England.
