Join now >Christian McCaffrey scores in Panthers’ playoff loss.
McCaffrey carried six times for 16 yards and caught six of eight targets for 101 yards and a touchdown through the air in the loss to the Saints. The touchdown was on a halfback option route that McCaffrey easily got open on and was off to the races. The rookie from Stanford had an excellent rookie season and was an integral part of the offense, but he’s definitely someone that could (and probably should) get more touches next season. We’ll have to see what Carolina does at the running back position this offseason, but if McCaffrey ends up as the lead runner he would offer monster upside in 2018 fantasy drafts.

The Chiefs are open to trading Alex Smith this offseason, according to Ian Rapoport.
Rapoport was on NFL Network and reported what many are anticipating: that the Chiefs will part ways with Smith after the year and go with the young first-round pick Patrick Mahomes after they moved up 17 spots to get him in the 2017 NFL Draft. However, Smith had an MVP-like campaign this season, and it might be unwise to get rid of him while he’s leading the team to division titles. The playoffs, starting today against Tennessee, could be huge for Smith’s future in Kansas City, despite the 33-year-old playing very well in the postseason throughout his career.

Mark Ingram contained in Saints’ playoff win over Carolina.
Ingram rushed nine times for 22 yards, also adding a 13-yard reception. The Panthers didn’t allow Ingram or Alvin Kamara to beat them, but Drew Brees diced them for nearly 400 yards in the 31-26 victory. It will be another difficult matchup next Sunday in Minnesota for the exciting running back duo in what should be a great game.

Marqise Lee (ankle) is questionable for Sunday against Buffalo.
Like running back LeSean McCoy on the other side for the Bills, Lee missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday before getting in a limited participation today. Reports emerged that Lee is expected to play in the Wild Card matchup, and he’ll probably tough it out for the opportunity to play postseason football. Lee’s game status will be official by 11:30 AM ET on Sunday.
1/5/18 - 03:51 PM ET
Alvin Kamara scores in Wild Card win over the Panthers.
Kamara rushed 10 times for 23 yards and a touchdown, also adding a 10-yard reception. Carolina did an excellent job against the elite running back duo for New Orleans, but the Saints were able to get a thrilling 31-26 victory. Kamara gets another tough matchup next Sunday in Minnesota, but he could break the game open at any point as his team looks to advance to the NFC Championship.
1/7/18 - 08:02 PM ET
T.J. Yeldon (illness) is questionable to play in Sunday’s playoff game.
Yeldon hasn’t been able to practice this week while dealing with the stomach flu, and it sounds like he’s a true game-time call. Jacksonville has a deep running back group, so it would not be surprising to see Yeldon inactive against the Bills. His status will be known by Sunday morning at the latest.

Jonathan Stewart gets 11 carries in playoff loss to New Orleans.
Stewart ran well in the close Wild Card defeat, gaining 51 yards on his 11 attempts. This season, the run blocking for the Panthers clearly wasn’t very good, which didn’t help Stewart achieve startle fantasy value. However, he still did get 198 carries during the regular season and is under contract with the team for 2018. Stewart might be asked to take a pay cut if he does remain in Carolina, though.
