Join now >Dion Lewis is retiring from the NFL.
After being drafted in the fifth-round of the 2011 draft by the Eagles, Lewis spent ten years in the NFL, having quite the career as an “undersized” running back. A broken leg derailed Lewis’ 2013 season, and then he did not play in 2014 either, but he found a role with the Patriots from 2015 to 2017 and was a member of the Super Bowl LI championship squad. Lewis’ best year came with New England in 2017, when he carried 180 times for 896 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns while adding 32 receptions for 214 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns. In addition to playing for the Eagles and Patriots, Lewis also played in the regular season for the Titans and the Giants. His career ends with 567 carries, 2,425 rushing yards, 13 rushing touchdowns, 191 receptions, 1,408 receiving yards, and eight receiving touchdowns. Lewis was also a weapon as a kick returner, and added a touchdown on a kick return during his stellar 2017 campaign. We wish Lewis luck as he moves past his football career.

Rashod Bateman is having groin surgery.
The rookie receiver is having surgery either today or tomorrow, and Ravens head coach John Harbaugh says he’ll be back some time in September and terms it “pretty good news.” This falls in line with what it sounded like would be the timeline yesterday. It’s unfortunate that the first-round pick likely won’t be ready for opening day, but he can give the Baltimore passing attack a boost when he makes his debut during the first week of the season.

The 49ers have released Kevin White.
The Niners are pretty crowded at wide receiver, and we’ll see if the former first-round pick can land with a new squad in time to have a shot to make an impact this preseason. White is not a must-hold in dynasty leagues.

Rashod Bateman will miss “a number of weeks” with a leg injury.
It was thought to be a groin injury that Bateman was dealing with, but Ravens head coach John Harbaugh says it’s a leg issue that will keep him out for a stretch of weeks, but not months. Hopefully the first-round rookie receiver is able to make his debut sometime during September, but we might not get a clear timeline until closer to the start of the regular season.

Carson Wentz is “trending” toward playing in Week 1, according to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen.
It hasn’t even been two weeks since Wentz underwent foot surgery, but it sounds like he’s already known to be making progress to be ready to go when the Colts season opens in just under a month. Wentz is obviously motivated to be ready to go for Week 1 for his new team, and it looks like there’s a good shot that’ll be the case, even if he isn’t quite 100%. Mortensen also says All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson is expected to be ready to go for the opener, which would be excellent news for Indy.

The Cardinals signed Demetrius Harris.
Harris is a big target that will look to win a role in Kliff Kingsbury’s offense. Arizona is pretty wide open at tight end, so a roster spot should be in reach for Harris.

Rashod Bateman (groin) is at least week-to-week.
Bateman went down in practice this morning with what is being called a groin/core muscle injury, and he looked to be in obvious discomfort while heading off the field. The rookie receiver is now set to miss most if not all of the preseason, and his Week 1 appears to be in jeopardy. Bateman has been impressing when he’s been on the field in camp, but he might now start the season on the waiver wire in most fantasy leagues.
