Join now >Matt Forte (knee) has been placed on injured reserve; won’t play in Week 17.
The veteran running back battled through knee issues for pretty much all season, appearing in 12 games. This is the first season of Forte’s career that he didn’t hit 1,000 yards from scrimmage, and it’s also the first time he didn’t reach at least 800 yards rushing. Forte had 103 attempts for 381 rushing yards and rushing touchdowns along with 37 receptions for 293 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns. He’s entering the final year of his contract in 2018, but it’s possible the Jets decide to part ways if they revamp the running back position (perhaps they’ll target Penn State’s Saquon Barkley in the draft).

Cole Beasley (illness) is out for Week 17.
Beasley’s season is now over, and it’s probably been his worst since his rookie season in 2012. Dallas’ slot receiver had 36 receptions for 314 yards and four touchdowns, and his reception and yardage totals were more than cut in half compared to last season. Beasley is probably going to have to take a pay cut from his over-$4-million salary for 2018 if he’s going to remain with the Cowboys, and the team does have Ryan Switzer as a player that could be ready to take over slot duties for them.

Cody Latimer (thigh) has been ruled out for Week 17.
Latimer appeared in 11 games this season, having by far his best season of his four years in the NFL so far. The former second-round pick had 19 receptions for 287 yards and two touchdowns, setting career highs in all three categories while averaging 15.1 yards per reception. Latimer will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, so we’ll see where he winds up if he leaves Denver.

Emmanuel Sanders (ankle) is out for Week 17.
The injury-riddled 2017 season has come to an end for Sanders, who didn’t reach 1,000 yards for the first time in his four years with Denver. Sanders appeared in 12 games this season, catching 47 passes for 555 yards and two touchdowns. Surprisingly, Sanders will turn 31 this March, but he should still have some left in the tank if he comes back healthy next season. We’ll see how the receiving corps of the Broncos is changed, if at all, this offseason, but Sanders should be a FLEX option to start 2018.
12/29/17 - 06:28 PM ET
James White (ankle) is questionable for Sunday against the Jets.
White was limited in practice all week, but Mike Gillislee and Rex Burkhead are both dealing with knee injuries, so the Patriots would probably at least like to have White active for Week 17 if possible. If White is out, Brandon Bolden might have a nice role against the Jets while mixing in behind Dion Lewis.
12/29/17 - 06:25 PM ET
Chris Hogan (shoulder) is questionable for Week 17.
Hogan was limited in practice all week, which indicates he might not be ready to make his return. But the good news is he wasn’t ruled out ahead of the weekend. It looks like he’ll at least be ready for New England’s first playoff game if he isn’t ready this Sunday.
12/29/17 - 06:24 PM ET
Rex Burkhead (knee) is not playing this week.
Burkhead’s knee injury will force him to miss his second straight game, and now the hope is that he’s ready for the playoffs in a couple of weeks. The first regular season for Burkhead in New England ends with 64 carries for 264 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns along with 30 receptions for 254 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns in ten games played. Burkhead is also a big-time special teams contributor, so hopefully he’s ready to go for the Divisional Round.
