Jake Dolegala | Free Agent QB

The Packers have waived Jake Dolegala, according to Joe Buscaglia.

Aaron Rodgers showing up for training camp has led to Dolegala and Blake Bortles being let go, and Green Bay now has three quarterbacks on the roster. This move could open the roster spot for a possible trade with Randall Cobb rumored to be set for a second stint with the Packers.

Blake Bortles | Retired QB

The Packers are releasing Blake Bortles, according to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky.

Bortles was signed in May when the Aaron Rodgers saga essentially began, and the team is now comfortable with the three other quarterbacks on the roster aside from the reigning NFL MVP. The former No. 3 overall pick will hope to get a shot elsewhere in the near future, especially with preseason games back on the schedule for 2021.

Randall Cobb | Free Agent WR

The Packers are acquiring Randall Cobb, according to multiple reports.

The deal is reportedly either done or right at the finish line, and it was almost like a condition to get Aaron Rodgers to play for the Packers this season. Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks tweeted a goodbye to Cobb after the two were teammates last season. Cobb spent his first eight seasons in Green Bay and was a reliable target for Aaron Rodgers. The veteran figures to slide into a prominent role in the slot in the Packers offense in 2021.

Odell Beckham Jr. | Free Agent WR

Odell Beckham Jr. (knee) will not begin camp on the PUP list.

While Odell might be relatively limited compared to other players to start camp, he’s ready to go on Day 1. Coming off a torn ACL, OBJ will look to get re-acclimated within the Browns offense with Cleveland coming off its first playoff berth in nearly two decades.

Logan Thomas | 49ers TE

Washington and Logan Thomas have agreed to a contract extension.

It’s a three-year contract extension, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. Thomas is coming off a breakout 72/670/6 campaign in 2020, and you could see his comfort level increase while becoming a weapon at tight end for Washington. This is a cool story for the former Virginia Tech quarterback, making a successful transition to a new position and being rewarded for it with a very nice contract at age 30. Washington added Curtis Samuel and Dyami Brown this offseason and has a lot of mouths to feed on offense, but Thomas can certainly be back on the TE1 map this season.

Chris Hogan | Retired WR

The Saints are signing Chris Hogan, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

Hogan will resume his NFL career after a stint playing professional lacrosse, and he’s in a great spot in New Orleans with a chance to earn a significant role. For now, though, look for Tre’Quan Smith, Marquez Callaway, and Deonte Harris to be the top three wideouts on an offense that will revolve around Alvin Kamala.

Aaron Rodgers | Free Agent QB

Aaron Rodgers and the Packers are close to an agreement that would bring him back for at least the 2021 season, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

This reporting could just be Schefter trying to cover for himself after basically making it as if Aaron Rodgers was going to be gone (remember, the original report by ESPN took over 2021 NFL Draft coverage), but the insider says the two sides reached “mutually agreed-upon terms” over the weekend that has the reigning NFL MVP close to abandoning plans he had to skip training camp. Schefter also says the new agreement would set up for Rodgers to leave Green Bay after the season. Overall, this news isn’t a real surprise considering the nod Rodgers and Davante Adams made to “The Last Dance” on Instagram, and the superstar passer will need to be moved up draft boards once he officially reports. One thing for sure is that Rodgers—assuming he plays—will want to put up big-time numbers.
