Join now >Wendell Smallwood (knee) did not practice today.
This is the second-year back’s second-straight day not practicing, so it doesn’t look like he has a great chance of playing on Sunday against the Cardinals. Perhaps he can get out there for practice tomorrow, but he’ll probably be declared inactive if not.

Bengals WR Tyler Boyd is “facing several drug charges.”
This stems from a car crash in Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania last July. People are already joking that Boyd fits right in with the Bengals but putting that aside, this obviously isn’t good and league discipline could be on the horizon. Boyd is not on the fantasy radar right now, but hopefully for him personally he can avoid trouble with the law moving forward.

Derek Carr (back) says he’s “very ahead of schedule.”
According to Vic Tafur, Raiders left tackle Donald Penn says Carr told him this. It’s not surprising the young quarterback is optimistic about his return, because that’s just the type of attitude he seems to have about things. But he could really be ahead of schedule and ready to come back quicker than anticipated—maybe the short side of the 2-6 week timeframe that’s been given for his recovery from a transverse fracture. The Raiders will go with E.J. Manuel while Carr recovers.

Ty Montgomery (ribs) “looked good” in practice yesterday.
The third-year back is going to practice again today, and the team sounds optimistic about him playing Sunday versus Dallas. Montgomery wore extra protection during practice yesterday, as expected, so maybe he’ll give it a go and just wear the extra padding on Sunday. We might not know for sure of his game status until Sunday though, and the Packers play in the late-afternoon games.

Davante Adams is “progressing very well.”
Packers head coach Mike McCarthy says the receiver is still in concussion protocol but that he’ll do more today in practice. It certainly sounds like right when he’s cleared of the concussion he’ll be off the injury report and ready to go. This Sunday against the Cowboys is likely.

Vikings QB Sam Bradford is expected to practice today.
It sounds like Bradford will be out there and they’ll probably see how well he moves around and how his knee responds after practice. Bradford is expected to be out there on Monday night, but obviously he needs to get through practice these next few days first. We’ll see if he’s listed as a limited or full participant when the practice report is released.

Saints RB coach Joe Thomas believes Adrian Peterson will pick it up soon.
Thomas told the The Times-Picayune, “it’s just a matter of time. I really feel like this block, it’s going to break.” New Orleans has a bye week this week, so Thomas means when they return from the bye Peterson will start to break out over the next few games. Through four games, AD has only 27 carries for 81 yards—certainly not what he expected when he came to New Orleans. With his fantasy value at an all-time low, he’s worth a shot as an extreme buy-low candidate (or as a free-agent pickup if he’s available in your league).
