Join now >Tyler Boyd has a tight hamstring, according to Ian Rapoport.
This explains why he’s inactive. Rapoport says it happened “real late in the process,” so it likely happened during warmups. Boyd will have ten days to get ready for Week 3.

Bengals receiver Tyler Boyd is inactive for tonight’s game against the Texans.
This is a major surprise for last year’s second-round pick, as he’s not injured. With rookie top-ten selection John Ross active, the Bengals have just opted to make Boyd inactive. Neither Boyd nor Ross is known to cover kicks on special teams, so the decision must’ve come down to one of them on offense. This means Ross will likely be a top-three receiver with A.J. Green and Brandon Lafell, so he has some boom potential in his first game. Boyd could be a trade candidate at some point.

John Brown (quadricep) did not participate in Cardinals practice today.
That makes it two straight days of no practice for Brown, which is a big concern for his status this Sunday against the Colts. If he can’t practice tomorrow, he’ll probably be out for Week 2.

Markus Wheaton (finger) was limited at practice today.
Wheaton isn’t 100% from his broken finger, but the Bears could use him on Sunday after the loss of Kevin White in Week 1. We’ll see if he can get a full practice in tomorrow.

Jordan Howard (shoulder) was limited in practice today.
It’s the second straight day Jordan has been only a limited participant in practice. There isn’t a lot of concern about him being ready for Sunday, but check back for his status when the official injury report for the game is released tomorrow.

Cam Newton will be limited throughout some practices during the season.
Newton was limited today after being a full participant yesterday, and head coach Ron Rivera says it’s a normal part of their program to “maintain” Newton’s shoulder. Rivera said Newton will do almost everything in the limited practices, they just won’t force him to push things too much. The 2015 NFL MVP will rack up a lot of limited practices this season, but it’s not a big deal. Newton will be a QB1 this Sunday against the Bills.

Chester Rogers (hamstring) was a limited participant in practice today.
Rogers hasn’t been able to get in a full practice this week yet, but he’ll at least have a chance to play on Sunday. The second-year receiver missed Week 1, but the Colts could use him out there as they play the Cardinals and try to avoid an 0-2 start. We’ll see how Rogers is listed when the official injury report for the game is released tomorrow.
