The rookie running back split work evenly with Mark Ingram and Adrian Peterson, carrying seven times for 18 yards and catching four passes for 20 yards. Kamara’s seven carries were actually the most on the team, which bodes well for his outlook as a rookie. It’s clear the Saints and Sean Payton, who’s compared Kamara to Marshall Faulk, believe the rookie is too good not to put on the field. He’ll have some good weeks this season.

Adam Thielen goes off in Week 1 win against the Saints.
Thielen led the Vikings with nine receptions for 157 yards in the first half of the Week 1 MNF doubleheader. Thielen picked up chunk yardage on a few occasions, including a 44-yarder on a deep crossing-type route from the slot. Dating back to last season, Thielen has been on fire (he had 202 yards in Week 16 last season). If Sam Bradford is given time to throw, Thielen could do some real damage this season.

Jamaal Charles plays well in his first regular season game with the Broncos.
The former All-Pro carried ten times for 40 yards against the Chargers, mixing in behind C.J. Anderson in Denver’s backfield. Charles did lose a critical fumble in the fourth quarter that led to a Chargers touchdown on the next drive, but it did appear Charles’ elbow was down (but the officials opted to let the call on the field stand because it was close). Charles played near the goal line on a couple snaps, which is a great sign for his fantasy value. The best news is Charles looks healthy and looks like a potential difference-maker for the Broncos. He’s not a terrible FLEX option in Week 2 against the Cowboys.

Chargers come up just short in Week 1 comeback attempt against the Broncos.
Philip Rivers helped lead the Chargers to 14 fourth-quarter points, but Denver blocked a potential game-tying field goal with one second remaining. The Chargers offense struggled for much of the game aside from one touchdown drive in the second quarter, but they got things going late in the game. Rivers was 22/33 for 192 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception in the game. The INT came on a pass where there looked to be pass interference on Broncos corner Bradley Roby, and Rivers let the officials know about it. Rivers gets the Dolphins next week and will look to get out to a faster start in the Chargers’ first home game in LA since 1960.

Adrian Peterson’s Saints debut doesn’t go as expected.
All Day, along with the rest of the Saints offense, could not find his groove against his former team. He played about ten snaps and had only six carries for 18 yards versus the Vikings. Notably, the cameras caught Peterson saying something to Sean Payton on the sideline, and Payton might have had a bit of a testy response. It’s still early, but the new Peterson-Saints partnership isn’t looking great after the first game.

Stefon Diggs scores twice in Vikings’ Week 1 win.
The Vikings were clicking on all cylinders, torching the Saints through the air throughout the game. Diggs had seven receptions for 93 yards and two touchdowns in the Monday Night Football contest. The first touchdown was on a corner route where Diggs was wide open after a run-fake on play-action. The second touchdown came on a pass from inside the ten-yard line to the end zone that Diggs high-pointed and came down with. It’s a great start for Diggs and the Vikings, who have a more difficult matchup in Week 2 against Pittsburgh.

C.J. Anderson gets 20 carries in Broncos’ Week 1 win.
Jamaal Charles did get ten carries in the game, but Anderson worked as the clear lead guy in the backfield, picking up 81 yards on his 20 carries. Anderson also added a seven-yard reception. Charles did receive a couple looks at the goal line, which isn’t a positive for Anderson—but he should get more than enough to have very good fantasy value this season. The Broncos play the Cowboys in Week 2 and they’ll likely try to establish the running game again.
