Join now >Rex Burkhead returned to practice for the Patriots yesterday.
It’s unclear what injury caused him to miss the Patriots’ third preseason game, but he’s back practicing for the team. It’s totally unclear who will be the primary running back for the Patriots this season—or if there will even be one guy that gets the majority of the carries. There’s been some speculation the versatile Burkhead could get some time in the slot after the loss of Julian Edelman to a torn ACL. Everyone will get time in New England’s backfield, but Mike Gillislee is probably the favorite for most of the carries and most of the goal line work. It could be a frustrating situation for fantasy owners, though.

Rishard Matthews leads Titans in receiving in third preseason game.
Matthews was a reliable option for quarterback Marcus Mariota and had three receptions for 54 yards in the exhibition versus the Bears. Eric Decker (ankle) and Corey Davis (hamstring) were both out again, but it looks like Matthews should have a solid weekly floor in 2017. We’ll have to see how the offense looks when Decker and Davis are both on the field, though.

Eric Ebron returned to Lions practice yesterday.
Ebron has been dealing with a hamstring injury for the entire preseason and was seemingly not 100% until now. Ideally, he would’ve been fully participating in practice and preseason games over the last few weeks, but Ebron still does have good potential as someone that’s improved each year in the NFL. The Lions expect him to improve on his production again in his fourth season.

Derrick Henry works behind DeMarco Murray in Titans’ third preseason game.
The monstrous second-year back didn’t play for much of the beginning of the game, as Murray took basically all the work with the first team for a few series. Henry did get a lot of time with the starters, though, as they played three whole quarters. Henry carried the ball nine times for 24 yards and added three receptions for 29 yards and a touchdown. The touchdown was basically a toss, but the ruled it a forward pass by Marcus Mariota. During the FOX broadcast, Charles Davis said Titans head coach Mike Mularkey said he just trusts Murray so much and that the lack of more of a split backfield is not at all an indictment on Henry. It looks like Henry might struggle to be a reliable FLEX option this season, though it would not be the least bit surprising if does end up providing that type of value even with Murray in the lineup.

DeAndre Hopkins won’t practice again this week.
Hopkins and some of the other Texans are unable to get out of Houston because of Hurricane Harvey. Because he’s been out a few weeks because of a hand injury, Hopkins might not have even practiced if he was with the team anyway. There is some concern with Hopkins after missing most of the preseason, but he should get a ton of target right when he steps in the lineup in a couple Sundays from now.

Dion Sims scores in Bears’ third preseason game.
The former Dolphin scored on a play-action pass to cap a 96-yard opening drive for the Bears. He had two receptions for eight yards total in the exhibition. Sims will be more of a contributor for the Bears in real life than he will be for your fantasy team this season.

D’Onta Foreman is not with the Texans this week.
He and several other players are stuck in Houston because of the terrible flooding due to Hurricane Harvey. Foreman missed Saturday’s preseason game against the Saints because of a leg injury, and now he won’t suit up for the final preseason game. Missing a couple weeks of practice time might prevent the rookie running back from opening the season as the primary backup behind Lamar Miller. We should still see him active in Week 1 versus the Jaguars.
